25.01.2022 To all senior students, The Department of Philosophy runs a unit called Philosophy of Medicine PHIL3677, which has been redesigned in light of COVID-19, and will be opened up to senior students at the University of Sydney. Never before has there been so much public interest in medical statistics and medical modelling. Many of us have been surprised at how hard it is for even the best qualified and best-informed experts to predict the effects of medical interventions. In f...act, medical knowledge raises deep issues in epistemology and philosophy of science. In the last decade the philosophy of medical evidence has emerged as a major new area of philosophical research." In 2020 Semester Two, the Department of Philosophy has revised the syllabus in PHIL3677 Philosophy of Medicine to introduce students to this literature. This unit is coordinated by Dr Kate Lynch and Professor Paul Griffiths, both of whom are members of the Charles Perkins Centre.

This project is an e-commerce store and for every menstrual cup that is sold, a cup is donated to a woman in need. The menstrual cups are donated to women that are suffering from poverty, homelessness, addiction and/ or domestic violence, distributed to womens shelters in Sydney. It is estimated that 20 billion tampons and pads are being dumped into landfill each yea...r!
