25.01.2022 Great effort and superb organisation today from our amazing Psychology staff at UTas Open Day!

23.01.2022 If you are in Launceston this week, consider calling by Civic Square to attend some of the Lunch Box sessions. These free sessions are being run by local mental health professionals, covering a different topic each day. We are particularly proud that two of our recent graduates will be running sessions this week! Click the event below for more information about this fantastic community initiative, and the topics being covered each day. Australian Psychological Society - Northern Tasmania Branch #psychweek

20.01.2022 Inspired by this year's #psychweek theme (‘Psychology and Social Justice Issues. What can we learn from young people?’), members of our student psychology society have reached out to young Tasmanians to hear their thoughts on social justice issues. Over the coming days we will be posting short interviews conducted by UTAS Psychology Society with local young people active in various social justice spaces, to hear their thoughts and attitudes towards these issues. We think it is particularly fitting (and impressive) to have young people within our university community volunteer their time to curating these posts. Keep watching this space...

19.01.2022 Friday's #psychweek Lunchbox Session (Civic Square, Launceston) will feature UTAS graduate Liam, presenting: Setting Boundaries for Screen time and Sleep Hygiene. Liam is currently working in the Short Term Psychological Interventions Program and Youth Engagement team at Cornestone Youth Services in Launceston. Liam also occasionally works at Healthy Mind Centre. Sleep difficulties and issues with screen time are increasingly common, and assisting individuals in these areas h...as become a common component of Liam’s practice. Sleep and balancing screen time are of great importance, and often improving in these areas can start with some simple education. Come and check out this great initiative of the APS where you can access some resources, gain some knowledge, and connect with others in the community. 12.01.2022 This week we farewelled Claire, who over the past five years has contributed massively to our department, and in her role as Administration Officer, has been integral to keeping everything running. Thank you Claire for all you have brought to our department; you will be greatly missed, and we wish you all the best.

10.01.2022 Launceston friends: if you are free tomorrow 12-1pm, pop along to Civic Square to attend Caitlyn's Lunchbox Session on Mindfulness. Whilst many may think of meditation when they hear the term "mindfulness", this is not the only way to be mindful. Caitlyn, a recent graduate from UTAS' Masters of Professional Psychology program, says mindfulness has been a key skill utilised in her practice. Her work with youth across the North and North West with Cornerstone Youth Services ha...s shown her the creative and flexible ways strategies can be incorporated to improve mental health. Mindfulness novices and enthusiasts alike are welcome to come along to consider how mindfulness can be used to be more present in our busy, every day lives. https://www.facebook.com/events/658080491384748 Australian Psychological Society - Northern Tasmania Branch #psychweek
