24.01.2022 Fantastic news for our partner organisation TREE.ecd who will get food to the most disadvantaged children to help sustain them.
24.01.2022 When UK charities fail to attract government support the huge impact they have for the poor of Africa suffer. This seems so unfair. And where does that leave people who just want to help those less fortunate, belong to charity groups, enjoying companionship with good and generous hearts? Very sad.
24.01.2022 We are greatly appreciative to be the lucky recipients of a $1500 grant from the City of Albany, we've called Reconnecting Recycling Repurposing. This funding recognises that our doll group meets their criteria to support Strong & Thriving Community Groups. With a 3 month break and lack of funding with Covid restrictions, this will help enormously to sustain us through this difficult time.
22.01.2022 For people asking for the pattern. I'm on the road so don't have a scanner. This might help. The trick is to cut out a sole out of the plastic you get on shirt boxes, and put a little stuffing in the toes before you sew them onto the foot. Chris B.
18.01.2022 Check out this haul of dolls and toys heading soon to Kwa-Zulu Natal. Let's hope they're there in time for Christmas. Well done Sharon and Judith to get everything listed and sorted for customs documentation. What a lot of work.
18.01.2022 As we collect the last dolls and toys ready for packing and shipping, here are some August dolls already to go. Seventeen bags is a great tally so far and it's been great to have so many helping by taking doll bags to Perth.
15.01.2022 Get the tissues ready. This is so lovely. It shows why children love a doll who looks like them.
15.01.2022 These beautiful dolls are from the Mundaring doll makers who meet at the Mundaring Caring arts collective centre. This group was formed just a couple of years ago and their dolls are amazing.
12.01.2022 What a catchy song and dance craze. For some of our line dancer doll makers, this is one you should try.
11.01.2022 Booties and Beanies.
09.01.2022 Lovely music to go with a nice interview with Lynne Toglonini, the Schools Coordinator and long time doll maker who continues to support Uthando when life has not always been easy for her. Bravo Lynne T.
05.01.2022 This is the reality of child headed households in Uganda. I imagine it would be similar in KwaZulu-Natal. Refarmers are doing an amazing job establishing gardens, helping grandmothers and carers to become self sustaining. For just under $90 a permaculture garden with seed can be established to sustain large families as well as bring a small income from sales of vegetables and fruit.
