25.01.2022 Pick up one of our postcards from around the uni and fill it in! To report your lectures as unrecorded!! The UTS Students' Association

23.01.2022 Have a read about why Lecture Recordings are important by our Education Vice President Maddie At it currently stands there are only two lecture theatres in the entire university that are fitted out with lecture recording equipment in a permanent capacity. So where does this leave students, who work? Students who live far from uni? Students who struggle with their mental health, stress or anxiety? Students for whom English is their second language? Or students who want lectur...es recorded so they can revise? Let me lay out for you (and university management) why we need lecture recordings." https://utsstudentsassociation.org.au//university-of-tech-

13.01.2022 NO CUTS, NO FEES, NO CORPORATE UNIVERSITIES. Thankyou to everyone who stood in solidarity with UTS and USYD staff today. We will fight for a free, accessible, anticolonial and quality education system united with staff and our fellow students. As Melodie said in her wonderful speech, WE are the university.

13.01.2022 Breaking: Morrison Government set to hike fees for courses by upwards of 113% Want to study humanities or communications? The cost of your degree is doubling. ...Interested in law, commerce, business or economics? Your degree will set you back more that $14,000 a year - a 28% increase. This is unacceptable. While the Education Minister is lowering fees for some courses (read more about that in the article linked below), it's at the expense of hundreds of thousands of students studying degrees arent seen as 'job-ready'. No student should be left behind or stuck in a mountain of debt. This is no solution to the impacts of COVID-19 on our sector. Instead of giving a helping hand to our universities, they are attacking students, staff, and the viability of universities for all. Studying should never be a debt sentence. 12.01.2022 UTS has only two lecture facilities with permanent in-built capacity for lecture recordings. Lecture recordings are a necessity for many students, those who work, those who live far from uni, those who need them for revision and those with accessibility needs! UNSW, USYD, Macquarie uni all records their lectures. So why are we the University of Tech- NO-logy? ... Join the campaign fill in our post card at the students association in Building 1 and REPORT YOUR LECTURE AS UNRECORDED . Message the page to get involved in the campaign!!

07.01.2022 Please sign and share the NTEU petition. In just three days it has almost 300 signatures. Thank you for your solidarity and support! https://actionnetwork.org//save-the-quality-of-medical-sci

06.01.2022 "The drop in student satisfaction at UTS reflects a shift last year from semester to trimester teaching periods and from traditional lectures to interactive tutorials."- 2017 While this article may be from 2017, many students are still frustrated by a lack of accessible education and the fact that UTS is one of the only uni's that doesn't record all lectures for students. Maybe the drop in satisfaction is due to a lack of lectures being recorded and our education being made... inaccessible. 05.01.2022 Even though the government claims to be supporting students who intend to study "job-ready" degrees, in reality, they are cutting their total funding to the universities for these courses. In 4 years time, the government expects that an additional 100,000 domestic students will be studying, but they will not give any commensurate increases to the amount of funding universities get. Not only will this saddle students with a ridiculous amount of debt, but it will result in increased class sizes, decreased resourcing, and a worse quality of education for all students. There are heaps of ways you can get involved in the fight against these unfair cuts. Like our page to stay up-to-date, and there will be a protest at 1pm on Friday at Town Hall, so if you feel safe and able to go along, you can!

02.01.2022 BREAKING: Liberal Government’s attack on universities passes the House of Representatives After gagging debate on a bill that will see fee increases, a Universi...ty funding drop, and access to HECS lost, the Liberal Government has now become one step closer to passing the Job-Ready Graduates Package. We're onto the Senate now, but it's obvious the Government is scared of debate. We must keep fighting until we force the Senate to vote this proposal down and #KillTheBill. We're watching the news come out now that indicates this package may go to an inquiry and be amended later in the year. Ultimately, this package is an irredeemable attack on students and higher education, doing nothing to fund the system fairly. We’ll be posting updates soon on how you can help #KillTheBill
