22.01.2022 THIS POST MAY BE TRIGGERING AND HAS STORIES THAT RELATE TO INDIGENOUS MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE DIED IN CUSTODY. This month marks the 30th Anniversary of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody (RCIADIC), the final report was handed down on the 15th April 1991. The report made 339 recommendations. The recommendations fell into two categories, 1. focusing on improving the interaction of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at first contact with police and t...he justice system; and 2. those addressing policies such as health, education and self-determination in recognition of the broader social issues leading to higher rates of incarceration. Few have been implemented. 474 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people have died in custody in the past 30 years, four in the last two weeks. Enclosed is the video we did two years ago "Sorry for your loss" installation around Aboriginal Women who have died in custody. Today we stand with the families who have lost their loved ones. https://vimeo.com/320629248 #StopBlackDeathsInCustody #RaiseTheAge #writetoyourmp #istandwiththefamilies #notjuststatistics #letsgetitright #RCIADIC #blm #IndigenousLivesMatter

02.01.2022 Powerful resistance history from Callum Clayton-Dixon: "The history books say our people didn’t fight back. And there’s no ‘Ambyang’ on the Aboriginal languages maps. For far too long our ancestors’ fierce resistance has been denied, and our cultural-linguistic identity invisibilized." https://medium.com//warriors-of-the-amb%C4%93yang-resistan
