25.01.2022 This year has been a tough year so far for all of us, but the DMD3 and 4 students have been putting in a huge extra effort to get everything done so they can graduate on time. In the upcoming July edition of Probe Magazine, Dr Gareth and Dr Yasmita (UWA alumni) share their experiences and advice on pushing through to graduation and beyond! 22.01.2022 Our sponsor dental protection is running a National Lecture Tour entitled Under Pressure which looks at the pressures (both internal and external) of being a dental practitioner. They're reaching out to dental students in an attempt to educate us about the issue of burn out early on in our careers. The event is free for all students so why not check it out!

21.01.2022 To facilitate the logistics of the 2018 ADSA Convention, full tickets sales will be ending on Tuesday 29 May. We will only be reserving a very limited number of tickets thereafter, so please make sure to register for Convention as soon as possible!

19.01.2022 Due to the rapidly changing situation regarding COVID-19, OHCWA has decided to close the clinic as of Tuesday 24/03/2020. All patients will be cancelled by reception. Please keep a logbook of your patients including when they were cancelled and what stage of treatment they are in. If your patient requires emergency treatment, they can still call reception to book in for emergency (just not done by students).... Hopefully this is a short term sacrifice that we can bounce back from quickly! Please look after yourselves and your mental wellbeing. Reach out to someone if you are stressed. Please do not come to uni if you are unwell. And finally, be sure to keep up to date with emails from the dental school.

18.01.2022 WOWEE time has flown! This semester has gone by so quickly - it is hard to believe that the first exams are on Saturday! @udssuwa wants to wish everyone the best of luck for exams! Eat healthy, keep up your exercise, make sure you are getting enough sleep, practice mindfulness, swim at the beach... whatever you have to do to keep yourself balanced during this stressful time. And make sure to look after your fellow classmates as well as give support to those in the years below you - even the smallest words of encouragement can be powerful!

11.01.2022 Student Assist’s Food Pantry is open to all UWA students who are struggling with daily costs, and especially over the pandemic this year, has seen increased demand and usage. The Food Pantry relies on generous support and donations from students and staff to stay stocked up, which is why we need YOUR help participating in this semester’s @uwaguild_welfare x FacSoc Food Drive, as part of UWA Guild Welfare Week! From the 5th to 23rd of October , drop off any non-perishable... items you have such as: rice, pasta, canned good (such as baked beans, spaghetti, chick peas, lentils, corn, peas, kidney beans, tomatoes, tuna), oats, pasta sauce, Passata, long life milk, muesli bars, noodles, soup, cereal and crackers, AND/OR sanitary items, soap, shampoo, razors, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes to our FacSoc’s specific Donation Box located at the UDSS Common Room @udssuwa feels that it is so important to give back to those struggling in our own community, which is why we have banded together to make a difference There’s a special prize for the FacSoc which can collect the most donations, so watch this space to see how we go! 10.01.2022 The TERTIARY BLOOD CHALLENGE is back again in 2020, going from the 1st of March until the 31st of May! Last year UWA did a pretty good job coming third against the other dental schools - BUT CAN WE BEAT THEM *ALL* THIS YEAR? (Cue the Pokémon theme song...) The top monetary prize for the ADSA Cup (of which the blood drive is a component) is $1500 to the Students society - just imagine the new functional common room chairs and new table tennis equipment! Other noteworthy pr...izes include saving peoples lives (I suppose that is also pretty good) and contributing to improving quality of life for the people that need it. (Not bad!) 07.01.2022 Finally - scream it from the roof of OHCWA - UDSS is back with another social event! ...And this time it's a little bit ~fancy~ A conservative, minimally destructive night out? GV Black would NEVER. Let's have some fun WHAT'S ON OFFER:... The ticket price will include a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic, your choice) on entry as well as a selection of some ~fancy~ canapés. Plus, of course, the PRICELESS opportunity to hang out with your amazing peers that you've missed so much over the last few months. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? This is your opportunity to show off your snazzy outfits. Not quite ball gowns and tuxedos, but definitely take off that dressing gown you lived in during iso. We want you to feel ready to go for next year when things zoom in on the oral cavity!
