13.01.2022 To reduce the spread of COVID-19 in South Australia, all non-emergency and non-urgent surgeries, treatments and procedures will be cancelled from 11.59 pm Wedne...sday 1 April 2020. The only surgical treatment that may be performed is emergency surgery and procedures that are required to prevent the loss of life, loss of limb or permanent disability. If the significant delay of a non-emergency procedure could increase the risk of loss of life, limb or permanent disability, then it may still be performed. Procedures may, for example, include endoscopies, bronchoscopies, interventional radiology and cardiology. Patients should contact their GP or treating clinician for further information. For more information visit https://bit.ly/2yp3maV or call the SA COVID-19 Information Line on 1800 253 787 between 8am to 8pm, 7 days per week.

09.01.2022 An update has been made which affects the operation of wineries and their associated cellar doors and restaurants. To reduce the spread of COVID-19 within South... Australia the State Coordinator has made a direction under the Emergency Management Act 2004 to restrict wineries with cellar doors and restaurants attached to them. The direction stipulates that all wineries, cellar doors and restaurants located at wineries in South Australia are to close. The sale of food to the public is to stop. Wineries that sell food commercially to supermarkets and retail stores are still permitted to produce and sell products, but food products must be transported to retail outlets by commercial freight or the winery itself. Further, wineries can continue to sell alcohol via online or phone purchases, again provided that they are delivered by commercial freight or the winery themselves. Wineries are major tourist attractions and as a holiday period approaches, travel to wine regions is discouraged in order to protect these areas from a potential influx of tourists and spread of COVID-19. Members of the public can find a copy of the Direction in full here: https://www.police.sa.gov.au//Signed-Direction-Non-Essenti If you require further information you can call the SA COVID-19 Information Line on 1800 253 787 between the hours of 8.00am to 8.00pm 7 days per week or go to the SA Health website at https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au or https://www.sa.gov.au/covid-19

07.01.2022 Looking at the trend of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Australia through time (image 1) might not give us a clear view if we are making progress in stopping the spread of the virus. However, looking at the rate of weekly new cases vs total number of cases (image 2), we can see that as the total number of cases go up, the weekly new cases have started to go down since March 29 and as of April 12 (yesterday), the number of weekly cases has dropped to 632 cases. This could indicate... that what we are currently doing with our social distancing, contact tracing, and testing are working to stop the spread of the virus!
