09.01.2022 Hola chic@s Some of you have been asking for series and films in Spanish, so I am going to continue the tradition I started last semester during isolation and share some tips. :) If you don't have Netflix, make sure you check on #sbsondemand : it's a completely free platform where you can search for "Spanish" and you will get lots of results and can stream films and series. We watched "Hierro" last semester, a series set on the beautiful island of #elhierro... Don't let the speed of the dialogues scare you: you have only just started learning Spanish. At this stage it's good just to "have some Spanish in your ears". This is neither marked nor compulsory, just something you can do in your own time. And that Australia and Latin America have embraced new temporary visa arrangements that have led to thousands of Latin-Americans migrating to Australia every year with a substantial proportion staying in the country? What do we know about the Latin American community living in Perth? ...What do we know about their home-making practices or social networks? Bernardo Tomás Dewey is a second-year (2019) PhD student in the School of Social Science at the University of Western Australia and his PhD research project focuses, as a single case study, on Argentinian migration to Perth. Using ethnography as a research method, Bernardo explores home-building practices, social networks and the way temporary and permanent visas intersect with the everyday life of this group of migrants.
