Reposted from @tamilmontessori This World Read Aloud Day LO and I are honoring the joy and power of reading aloud through two of our favorite reads in recent times one in English and another in Tamil. Swipe to see the snippets of Dear Zoo, a classic lift the flap board book, written and illustrated by Rod Campbell and Nirangal (Colors), a touch and feel Tamil board book by @vaaranambooks. The peek-a-boo style pages that build excitement to reveal each animal is LO’s favorite part of reading this classic interactive book, Dear Zoo. You can hear LO’s acknowledgement at the end of each page. The textures of various animals in Nirangal book are inviting to young readers to explore them. The fluffy white fur of Vellai Aadu has been LO’s favorite. She goes back to it after reading Neela Thimingilam too. Sometimes we may not finish reading the whole book, and some times we read the same book over and over again, like today. Reading aloud to LO is all about that special bonding experience, reading with the same level of enthusiasm every time and providing a positive experience with reading. Happy World Read Aloud Day! P.S. LO chose both the books from her rack to read. Having a low bookrack that is accessible to the child invites them to pull out and explore the books on their own, thereby promoting independence. This little one recently had her rice writing ceremony and our Uyir Ezhuthukkal book was there for reference Photos like these make me all teary... when I started this initiative, I had no clue how my books will be received by Tamil parents and the community. It is absolutely heartwarming and beautiful to see that we have a place in your special moments ... Thank you for all the support, from the bottom of my heart.
