23.01.2022 This time last year we were battling dust and dry weather, this year we are battling rainy days mixed in with a beautiful sunny day. Unfortunately that means mould will start if you are not caring for your sails correctly. I can’t stress the importance of only storing your sails if they are completely dry and get out and sail! 07.01.2022 Since opening our factory in North Curl Curl eight years ago, we have cleaned over 1000 sails and boat canvas. We have also cleaned tents, marquees, canvas from a cruise ship and a full set of sails from a Tasmanian Government historic fishing ketch. Finally boat owners in Australia have a solution to get their mouldy, grubby sails/canvas cleaned ! 04.01.2022 The HOME of Vacuwash over in Greenland, New Hampshire. Did you know Vacuwash was invented by Jeff Andersen as he wanted to find a way to effectively clean sails. Most sails are now made out of laminated materials, which replace woven polyester for a lighter and faster sail, says Jeff Andersen, President of Sailmaking Support Systems The sails made with laminated materials have multiple layers glued together, and water gets in between the layers, leading to terrible mildew problems. To effectively clean these sails, we need to really penetrate every layer not just the sails surface to thoroughly remove the mildew.
