24.01.2022 Introducing Rebecca Corps: many of you will already know Bek from her role as GM of Stirling Street Arts Centre. Born of this earth, Rebecca enjoys reconnecting to nature through the arts. Her favourite colour? The red of the Banksia flower. Her favourite thing to do with a circle? Start a natural basket. Her preferred plural for rhombus? Rhombi, it's definitely more elegant. That's a dead heat in the plural stakes! Looks like I'll have the deciding vote...
16.01.2022 Colour Me, Beautiful is a performance art and installation project presented for three months as part of Bunbury Regional Art Gallery's Biennale, which can only happen with some dedicated support. Meet lead delegate Nathan Gardiner. Based in Capel, Nate’s continuing fascination with art, fashion and performance has manifested in a multi-faceted career responding to the spaces, interests and opportunities within his communities. 1. What's your favourite colour? Blue 2. What's your favourite thing to do with a circle? Sing them: round like a circle like a spiral like a wheel within a wheel. 3. What’s your preferred plural for rhombus: rhombuses, or rhombi? Rhombuses
13.01.2022 I've been plotting for years to get into the studio with Bec Bradley and I'm so thrilled to have her join us for Colour Me, Beautiful. Bec is a West Australian performer, devisor, director, puppeteer and musician, whose practice centres on fostering authenticity, connection, emotional intelligence, and joy. Favourite colour: Teal (the point where blue and green, land and sea, voice and heart, meet). Favourite thing to do with a circle: Put on some funk/ Bhangra/ Balkan beats and dance with friends in one! Preferred Plural: Rhombi! Here's Bec chillaxing 'roo style.
07.01.2022 Just when you thought there couldn't possibly be any more awesome artists teaming up for Colour Me, Beautiful, here's Annette Carmichael. Annette is a dance artist and producer who lives in Kwoorabup (Denmark). She makes large scale multi-disciplinary performances across WA and is especially interested in collaboration, experimental music and the virtuosic potential of untrained dancers. What’s your favourite colour? Impossible to say. If I say green, which green do I really... mean? The colour of grass in deep shade or the murky green of a puddle on a hot day? I’d be lying if I gave you a simple answer Sorry. What’s your favourite thing to do with a circle? Eat them. What’s your preferred plural for rhombus? Rhombuses (the more letters the better). 04.01.2022 Day one of Colour me Beautiful done and I'm bursting with... something like paint? The aim of this work is to create intimate and playful experiences with gallery visitors by mixing the colour of their imaginings in paint. Visual traces of our colour stories are left on Bunbury Regional Art Gallery walls. Yes! My favourite colour might be coral, the orangey-pinky-red of living precious corals.
