22.01.2022 Join us this Thursday for Chokhor Duchen puja live via Youtube Chokhor Duchen, one of the four annual holy days of Guru Shakyamuni Buddha, takes place this year on July 24th. On these holy days, the power of any meritorious action is multiplied by 100 million, as cited by Lama Zopa Rinpoche from the vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic. Known in English as Turning the Wheel of Dharma, Chokhor Duchen commemorates the anniversary of Guru Shakyamuni Buddhas first teac...hing. It is said that for seven weeks after his enlightenment, the Buddha did not teach. Afterward, Indra and Brahma offered a Dharmachakra and a conch shell and requested Guru Shakyamuni Buddha to teach. Accepting, Guru Shakyamuni Buddha turned the wheel of Dharma for the first time at Sarnath by teaching the four noble truths. Advice from Lama Zopa Rinpoche for practices to do on merit multiplying days such as Chokhor Duchen can be found here. Chokhor Duchen is also the day on which the FPMT organization celebrates International Sangha Day!
20.01.2022 At times, we forget about the vulnerability of inmates in prison during this challenging time. Below is part of a letter from an inmate in California. It is v...ery challenging for inmates. They experience long periods of time locked in their cells, 1 hour of yard if they are lucky. Let us keep all inmates in our prayers to keep them safe & healthy. See more

19.01.2022 Sentient beings including insects are all the same in wanting happiness and seeking to avoid suffering. Theres no dispute about this. We tend to rely on physic...al and sensory sources of pleasure, but without peace of mind, we wont be consistently happy. Material development has greatly improved our physical facilities, but peace of mind isnt manufactured by machines in some factory, we have to create it within. See more

17.01.2022 Every aspect of our present well-being is due to hard work on the part of others. As we look around us at the buildings we live and work in, the roads we travel..., the clothes we wear, or the food we eat, we must acknowledge that all are provided by others. None of these would exist for us to enjoy and make use of were it not for the kindness of so many people unknown to us. See more

16.01.2022 When we look at our world from a longer perspective, looking ahead to say, a hundred years from now, we can imagine a world that is very different a better, k...inder, a more equitable, more joyful world. But we must start the process to bring about that change now and not wait for some ideal time. The ideal time is now. #WorldKindnessDay #BookofJoy See more

09.01.2022 We are excited to announce our new Lam Rim Meditation Retreat 2021 with Wai Cheong Kok. The non-residential retreat starts Saturday 16th - Monday 18th January (In-person & Online). For more information and to register visit the link. In this 3-day non-residential retreat, Wai Cheong will lead a series of guided meditations to facilitate our exploration of the different themes and for us to gain a personal experience of each of them. Each meditation is preceded by explanations.... All are welcome; no prerequisite needed. The teaching on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Lam Rim in Tibetan) is a systematic presentation of the various important Buddhist topics, such as our precious human life, death, karma, happiness, and suffering. By reflecting and meditating on these topics we can progressively guide our mind to let go of old, unhelpful views and conditioning that are the sources of our suffering. In their place, we cultivate virtuous mind states and habits conducive to our happiness, well-being, and the awakening of our Buddha potential.

08.01.2022 "We have to forgive ourselves. We have all made mistakes and acted stupidly. So what? Were human beings. If we were perfect then we wouldnt need a path, sin...ce we would already have arrived! It is because we have problems, because we have faults, because weve made stupid mistakes that we need a path. So therefore as we accept ourselves, so we can reach out and forgive others. We can start by befriending ourselves, being a little more tolerant of ourselves and that will help us be friendlier and more tolerant of others." ~Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo See more

01.01.2022 Its worth working to develop a happy attitude because even if it doesnt solve your immediate problems it helps you keep a calm mind which allows you to see re...ality more clearly. We have 2 levels of experience, that which is sensory, such as physical pain, and mental experience like frustration, sadness and stress. Of the two, mental experience is more effective because physical pain can be subdued by mental satisfaction, but mental unease is not relieved by physical comfort See more
