19.01.2022 One of the Lake Macquarie features that Valentine Residents' Association (VRA) likes to keep watch over is the Walking Track from Valentine to Green Point. VRA and Council staff inspected the track early in 2017. Very little attention over a number of years saw the track commencing to deteriorate. It was agreed that Council should commence immediately to rectify the situation and that in future some ongoing maintenance should occur to provide a safe walking environment for th...ose who sought to use the track. We are interested to learn if many of the VRA members use this track and what if anything needs to be done by way of improvements. Would you please let us have your comments.

18.01.2022 We. have just received a letter from Legacy 'pleading for volunteers' to help sell badges during Legacy Week 3rd-7th September. The job entails sitting at a shopping centre location in 4 hour shifts. Available locations are:... Warners Bay Shopping Centre Hours 9-5 Monday to Thursday Charlestown Square outside Myers Hours 9-1 Monday to Friday Lake Fair Mt Hutton outside Chemist Warehouse Hours 9-12.30 and 12.30-4.00 If you could spare just one 4 hour shift, Legacy would be extremely grateful as they are struggling to get volunteers for this worthy cause. To get registered, just ring Deb Bilbao on 4968 9501 and tell her which location and available hours you could assist.

17.01.2022 Future Planning The only way forward with our endeavours to have Council spend more money in our suburb is for our organisation in conjunction with the community, to develop a Master Plan for the future development of our suburb. It will be a plan to be implemented over a given period of time and in stages for completion. Our first part should relate to the shopping and parking area in Allambee Place. Interested ?, input would be appreciated.

14.01.2022 Valentine Residents’ Association Inc. Mail: Secretary - 9 Tallawalla Road Valentine NSW 2280 Email: [email protected] Website: www.valentine.org.au President: Allan Bargwanna 0409 452 068 Secretary: Kim McLean 0476 984 466... March 2019 Dear Valentine Resident The Valentine Residents’ Association Inc. (VRA) has been an active group of the Valentine Community for over 10 years. Our objects state, we aim to Build and foster strong community relationships with all residents and local organisations to enable the development of projects benefiting all residents in our Valentine community. In keeping with the above after discussions and support from Lake Macquarie City Council (LMCC) we are looking at gathering a list of projects that enhance the lives of locals and make Valentine more appealing to visitors. Some ideas such as improving access and movements around our shopping village, Allambee Park access and movement through and ideas to better utilise Allambee Park and Bennett Park more could be included. With support from business and you it will provide greater knowledge of what we require to better serve our community. Our foreshores and parks have for many years been sadly neglected by council. The foreshores and parks that encompass our suburb need upgrading by the provision of much needed infrastructure. E.g. Walking Track, Bennett Park, Halton Park near the Bowling Club and other parks located within our suburb. We welcome your ideas on developing Valentine into the future. The VRA will collect all ideas and include in a plan to pass on to LMCC for consideration. This will be a long-term plan if adopted by LMCC which will enhance the prospects for guarantee of future funding by council. Please visit our website at www.valentine.org.au for more information on the VRA. Emails can be sent to [email protected] or in writing to the Secretary, c/- 9 Tallawalla Road, Valentine NSW 2280. Thank you for your assistance. Valentine Residents’ Association Inc.

11.01.2022 Good afternoon or is it a bad afternoon. Despite the concerns raised by VRA & members of the community, the council in its wisdom is about to proceed with the plan to eliminate two disabled car spaces in Allambee Place and introduce 90 reverse parking along the park side of Allambee Place. This is happening even after an assurance was received that the project was on hold until further discussion took place with the residents (which did not happen).... If you are as disappointed with this action as the VRA Committee, please URGENTLY let it be known by contacting Karen Partington and other councillors in the hope that some positive action may result

09.01.2022 The Valentine Residents Assoc will not be holding our Carols in the Park event this December. It is believed that the Valentine Primary School P and C will be holding a Cocos Carols night in the school grounds during December. The general public are invited to attend. Please see the schools Facebook page for details in December.... The VRA have been holding Carols in the park for the past ten years and hope the Valentine community enjoyed our efforts.

08.01.2022 Following representation from the VRA ( after threatening to take to Health and local member ) Hunter Water has agreed to funding to complete the installation of the necessary equipment to eradicate the obnoxious smells that occur at the Croudace park pumping station. The contractor will commence to build the necessary plant off site before the end of this month and the installation hopefully completed before the end of August 2019.

03.01.2022 Following discussion by VRA President Allan Bargwanna and Mayor Kay Fraser this afternoon, I am happy to report that the issue of the Allambee Place Car Parking is back ON HOLD. Mayor Fraser has stated today that nothing will be happening until a meeting of Local Residents, Business People and Council takes place to resolve the parking issue. Due to council commitments this meeting may not take place until early new year so we have time to have this matter fully resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned.
