23.01.2022 To Our Valentine Swim School Community, After a meeting with a couple of representatives from the pool committee and council yesterday we regret to inform everyone we will be unable to resume lessons at this time. The pools require some repairs before they can re-open. The pool committee are awaiting final council reports and recommendations related to this. We will be doing everything we can to help the committee raise the required funds for repairs as well as reaching out... for community support. Council will be voting on the 13th July to decide whether they will support the facility in remaining open. Before this vote we are asking everyone to write letters of support or contact their local councillor outlining what a great community facility the pool is and how necessary Valentine Swim School is for water safety and fitness in Lake Macquarie. We need you to request financial support for the ongoing operation of the centre therefore allowing the pools to continue operating as a charity and vital community facility. We are relying heavily on community support to keep the pool and therefore the Swim School open. If anyone knows any companies wishing to donate to the Valentine Hydropools Charity please let us know. This matter has become a desperate one as we have only just been made aware of the July 13th meeting. The Swim School staff are missing all their students. They have been working hard on some exciting new programs, researching new equipment and cleaning and repairing their resources. We hope you all appreciate this situation is out of our control and at this stage can't give you an exact return to swim date. After yesterday's meeting we now realise this won't be in time for the beginning of term 3 like we had hoped and been planning for. We need to all work together to save the pool and hope you will share this post and forward on some strong and heartfelt letters to your councillors (see email addresses below). If you haven't already done so please share and sign our petition also. Fingers crossed we will see you all back in the water soon Valentine Swim School [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

22.01.2022 Dear Valued Clients It is with much regret that we are unable to reopen our swim school for the start of term 4 as previously advised. Unfortunately more information has been forwarded from Lake Macquarie Council deferring the reopening of the centre. Last week we excitedly began plans to resume lessons with the information we were given by the pool committee. It is our understanding the pools will re-open at some stage this year and once this occurs we will immediately ...resume lessons. Unfortunately we don’t know when this will happen so we have decided not to move forward with bookings until definite decisions and dates are made known to us. Please be assured we will continue to assist the Council and pool committee to reopen the centre as soon as possible. In the meantime staff are working hard to answer all calls, messages and emails. We understand families are desperate to resume lessons and although we now know we can not make this happen for the beginning of term 4 we are hopeful it won’t be too much longer. On a positive note we received a letter from the Mayor Kay Fraser which included the following statement, "I understand that the community is very keen to see this facility open and so am I. I also understand that this has been a very lengthy and long process, however as this facility has always been a community operated facility I feel that we should allow the new committee some time to investigate if they are able to bring the pools back up to the standard required. I want to also reassure you that this facility will not close and if the new committee is unable to run the facility, council will takeover the facility." We are beyond frustrated at the continued delays that are outside of our control but appreciate everyone’s continued support and patience. Please continue to email us at [email protected] and we will reply as soon as possible. We sincerely apologise for any inconveniece and hope all are safe and well during these challenging times. 20.01.2022 We got a 2 week deferral!!!! At Council's meeting last night we had a large majority vote of Councillors agree to defer their decision on the future of our comp...lex. This was done to enable Councillors to do a site inspection as not all Councillors have been to our complex before. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Mayor and Councillors for their gracious decision See more

07.01.2022 Earlier this week the new Valentine Hydrotherapy Pool committee announced that they were going to re-open the pools on Sept 26th. Because of this announcement and in good faith the Swim School excitedly put plans in place to resume lessons on October 14th. Unfortunately since this announcement the Council have made contact with the pool committee and it has been decided not to open the pools this weekend as initially planned. A council meeting is being held on Monday night and we are hopeful the council will support the re-opening of the complex. The Swim School is beyond frustrated at these continued delays out of their control. We hope Monday’s meeting will answer everyone’s questions and for the sake of staff and families a solution is found. Please be patient with us as we await a Council decision.
