23.01.2022 Pictured: drilling and installing a bore screened at nearly 300m depth to supply water. Read about our work on the hydrogeological assessment for Wyndhamvale Quarry here: https://www.valenza-engineering.com/our/wyndhamvale-quarry/

21.01.2022 Photos from a packer test - We conduct these to measure the hydraulic parameters of different sections in a bore.

20.01.2022 We used a helicopter to drop a tracers in a location that was tricky to access so we could measure the water movements.

19.01.2022 A V-notch weir: used for monitoring water flow. This one's keeping an eye on spring flow for us at a basalt quarry near Mount Baw Baw.

18.01.2022 Groundwater is an important resource: 97% of water on Earth is in our oceans. 30% of what remains is groundwater (or 4.2 trillion Olympic swimming pools), 100 times as much as in rivers and lakes. 18.01.2022 We're assisting Mining One at Savage River mine in Tasmania completing hydraulic testing, instrumentation and monitoring to characterise the hydrogeological compartmentalisation at the site.

17.01.2022 Cape Town may be the first major city to run out of water. With climate change increasing the frequency and intensity of droughts, this is a reminder that we must all change our relationship with water. By managing our water use and building resilient infrastructure, we can prevent a global crisis.

17.01.2022 This little blue-tongue is a local in the Point Wilson Dry Saltmarsh. We conducted long term environmental testing to see if a nearby quarry could expand without impacting the lizard and its habitat. Read about it here: https://www.valenza-engineering.com/ou/point-wilson-quarry/

16.01.2022 We worked on a groundwater and surface water assessment of the old mine pit and surrounds at Mount Windsor to prevent contaminant migration. Read about this project: https://www.valenza-engineering.com//highway-reward-coppe/

13.01.2022 Basalt, an important construction material, is deposited in layers through volcanic activity. Groundwater travels between these layers and through cracks and fissures within the flows. We work with the quarries extracting this material to understand and manage these complex hydrogeological systems and the surrounding environments. These photos are from quarries in Point Wilson, Neerim North, and Phillip Island, in Victoria.... Read about some of our work: https://www.valenza-engineering.com/ou/point-wilson-quarry/

13.01.2022 Point Wilson Quarry (Victoria), Environmental drilling.

13.01.2022 Lining some landfills that we've worked on around Victoria. Well-designed landfills are an important part of waste management - properly lined sites with effective leachate management and monitoring reduce the risk of groundwater contamination.

13.01.2022 Emma White and Rebecca Nelson highlight the need for robust science in groundwater decision making. "Mapping groundwater with an overly simplistic model is akin to using an identikit sketch of a smiley face to catch a criminal."

11.01.2022 Water Whiplash - the huge swings between droughts and deluges are set to get more frequent and more intense. Balancing the two will require new infrastructure and changing the ways we manage rural and urban landscapes.

10.01.2022 We worked on a project in Indonesia where the groundwater was a toasty 80C! Managing the water was important for mine safety and to keep a healthy water balance for the environment. Read about it on our website: https://www.valenza-engineering.com//toguraci-hydrotherma/

05.01.2022 Taking and understanding drilling samples is "core" to our work. Photos from a beautiful Queensland day where we found a fossil! We were working on groundwater assessments for a group of mines in the Bowen Basin. Read about the project here: https://www.valenza-engineering.com//water-standoff-proje/
