22.01.2022 A P P R E C I A T I O N P O S T (have your tissues ready). . Lisa was diagnosed end of October 2019 with Stage 3C high grade serous Ovarian Cancer . Treatment began with 6 rounds of chemotherapy every 21 days along with immunotherapy. This was very exhausting on the body and mind as sessions could last as long as 14hours. Whilst this was all happening Lisa was still continuing to walk along the beach & exercise to help with her recovery. . Mid February 2020 the cancer h...ad spread! Surgery was conducted to remove ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes part of the bowl, omentum, part of the diaphragm, part of the liver and the peritoneum was shaved. The recovery post surgery was long! . When COVID-19 hit in March 2020 because of the health concerns Lisa was forced to self isolate herself from the rest of the world! This caused her to slip into a dark place, physically, mentally & emotionally. The gym was now shut & there wasnt an option of Lisa being able to attend the gym. Sarah contacted Lisa through zoom & they were able to set up a home program. Having regular video calls with Sarah gave her the purpose & accountability to do her exercise regularly, something to get me out of bed & get me to move. Even when Lisa was so sick, she would still attempt to at least do some of my program at least 3-4 times weekly, as well as continuing the regular beach walks & mermaid dips ! . Exercising gave me another focus other than my treatment and the rollercoaster of chemo & hospital visits. Having that structure back in her life Lisa was able to reduce her depression & anxiety. It lifted her out of that dark place. . June 2020 Lisa was given the all clear. . She is now continuing to exercise under the watchful eye of Valetudo & making such great progress! . Doing up a program for me was definitely a game changer for me mentally & emotionally, plus physically I begun to stand up straighter after the surgery & see results, I felt like a woman again . Some ideas for you: Bibbulmun Track Try a section, there is 1,000km of Track to pick from, with huts every 10-20km and it stretches from Kalamunda to Albany https://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au Cape to cape track Another 130km of beautiful coastal track to pick from. This track connects Augusta to Dunsborough https://trailswa.com.au/trails/cape-to-cape-track The Stirling Ranges ! So many short peak walks to pick from. Im amazed how many people havent been to this beautiful part of great southern WA. My favourite climb is Toolbrunup .
