24.01.2022 Things you may not have known were illegal. 1 - being drunk in public. 2 - Possessing a graffiti instrument if it is reasonably suspected that it was, had been, and/or will be used for graffiti. 3 - Throwing things at a sporting event that may injure a person, damage property, or disrupt the event.... These are all offences under the Summary Offences Act.

22.01.2022 If you're licence has been disqualified for a period of 2 or more years, it's possible to apply to the Court to have the licence disqualification lifted. To be successful in the application you must demonstrate that you are now a fit & proper person to hold a licence. The Court will look at your history and current situation to determine this. If you're in this situation contact us for a chat to see if you may be eligible.

19.01.2022 Valiant Lawyers are proud to be sponsoring the 2020 QLD Streetsmart Handook. The Streetsmart Handbook is a useful resource provided to children in year 11, it is designed to provide these children with important information on a range of topics. The 2020 handbook, in particular, will discuss the dangers of Ice use in Australia and the devastating impact it has had. The 2020 Handbook will be published and distributed from February 2020.

16.01.2022 Charged with a criminal offence. There are more than two options - guilty or not guilty. You can also try to negotiate. We've successfully negotiated on behalf of our clients to either have facts amended, alternative charge/s, or have charges withdrawn. Know your rights. Get legal advice early.

13.01.2022 We received a great outcome for our client in the Magistrates Court last week. Our client was charged with a weapons offence, we went in expecting a probation order and a conviction recorded on their criminal history. The client walked away with a minor fine and no conviction recorded. Receiving the best outcomes for our client is what Valiant Lawyers strives to achieve.

12.01.2022 Have an upcoming Court date, and not sure what to expect. Check out our new post for some helpful information. Want to discuss further? Get in touch by phone, through our website or on Facebook messenger. https://www.valiantlawyers.com.au/going-to-court-what-to-e/

11.01.2022 I feel sorry for the two women that breached the border controls while they had covid. They shouldn't have done it but neither should they have been named. They will be the most hated people in the State, they will be abused and become the target of vile behaviour. We don't know why they did what they did. Maybe they were selfish, maybe they didn't care, or maybe it was something else. Don't spread the hate. There is enough of that in the world already. ... Don't continue to share their names around. If Brisbane becomes Melbourne than it does, we will just get through it like we did the last time. We don't need ti make their lives worse.

11.01.2022 Happy New Year to all our followers. We hope you enjoyed the festive season and were able to have some R&R. We hope everyone was safe, and to anyone who may be impacted by the devastating bushfires our thoughts have been with you. We have been making contributions to many charities that are providing their support and we will continue to do so. ... Let's hope that after these bushfires have passed our Government, and all the World's Governments, will take some serious action against climate change.

10.01.2022 We hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas. Some extra Christmas joy with a little bit of rain this evening. Wishing everyone a safe end of the year.

06.01.2022 Jenna has recently obtained registration as a Migration Advice. Migration Law is such a specialised area that Lawyers actually can't give legal advice or legal assistance unless they are also registered as agents. We found this meant that there was a gap in the service that could be provided to some of our clients as the criminal law and immigration advice often overlapped. Well we have solved that problem and can now also provide you with advice regarding your visa status if you have been charged with a criminal offence. Happy weekend

06.01.2022 If you're required to go to Court for drink driving related offences and you intend to plead guilty but you can't afford a solicitor. This is what you should do: - Obtain character references. I recommend 2 to 3. One from an employer is always a good option. -Prepare a letter of apology to the court. Explain the circumstances surrounding the charge but don't try to justify drink driving.... -Undertake QTOP prior to being sentenced and bring along the completion certificate. -Hand all this up to the Magistrate (you would say I would like to give you some material). -Be prepared with what you are going to tell the Magistrate. You will want the Magistrate to know your personal circumstances (do you have kids, do you work, do you need to drive for work, how will the loss of licence affect you in work and everyday duties, how will it impact your family etc.) You will lose your licence. All drink driving offences have a mandatory period of disqualification. This length depends on your BAC reading and your traffic history.
