05.01.2022 MEET JOHN BOYD (1945-2014) John was prominent in establishing the Valley Dragons in 1983. He was a loyal Valley Dragons committee member who regularly turned up to meetings until he passed away in 2014. He loved his footy and helped out at club games. You could also find him lending a hand at Canberra Raiders and local rugby league representative matches as a Sports Trainer. His massages were legendary among the community!! ... He would often turned up to Gowrie Oval to watch games and was always supportive of Valley Dragons teams. Indeed he attended the CRRL Grand Finals in September 2013, congratulating Valley Dragons teams, amongst other clubs, on winning their grand finals, when later that night he had a stroke. One Club member recalled in March 2014 Not a dry eye in the Club as we hear you have passed. A legend in our eyes and your culture we grasped. You taught us to wear our V with pride, loss or gain. A blessing that you are no longer in pain. John Boyd epitomised our Club values of Family, Community, Safety. John is a Life Member of the Valley Dragons and was the first Club Patron.
