20.01.2022 TAKE A PHOTO SAVE A LIFE KNOW THE GLOW Eli’s Story, as told by his Mum: In February 2019 we started to notice a glow in Eli’s left eye under different lighting. I researched for possible causes and the first thing that came up was retinoblastoma.... I booked an appointment for Eli at out local optometrist on Saturday 30th March. They noticed a large mass in Eli’s eye and told us to take him to the hospital immediately. Eli underwent many tests and it was confirmed he had retinoblastoma. On the 1st of April, Eli underwent surgery to have his left eye removed. Dr Jayne Camuglia, Professor Glen Gole & their team have done an outstanding job with Eli. One year on and Eli now has a prosthetic left eye. It took some getting used to, but now he is so confident and proud to wear his new eye. Eli just celebrated his 3rd Birthday and is living life to the full as a happy, healthy hero. : #knowtheglow #worldretinoblastomaawarenessweek

17.01.2022 TAKE A PHOTO SAVE A LIFE KNOW THE GLOW Isabelle was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma at 15 months old. This is Isabelle’s Story, as told by her Mum:... ‘I noticed a white glow in Isabelle’s eye when she would walk through different lighting in our house. After reading a story about retinoblastoma it prompted us to get her checked. Isabelle’s GP referred her to an ophthalmologist who sent us straight to the hospital to see Professor Glen Gole and Dr Jayne Camuglia. The doctors were able to save her right eye but she ended up having her left eye removed. It’s almost 5 years on from diagnosis and she is doing great! Her right eye is stable. She is a happy, healthy 6 year old girl who is loving life.’ #knowtheglow #retinoblastomaawarenessweek

We recently asked Heidi to share what her job as an orthoptist involves:... ‘As an orthoptist I specialise in the diagnosis and assessment of eye movement disorders and paediatric eye care. Each day I can be involved in the care of urgent cases, paediatrics, preoperative measurements and orthoptic therapy.
