23.01.2022 What a strange year 2020 has been first bushfires, then floods, COVID19 and now the unusually warm winter. I don't think we've ever had this much grass (still!) at the end of winter. Not complaining of course! But some of our fatter ponies will need locking up come Spring time ;)

17.01.2022 We have evacuated all spellers to a safe property away from the threat of bushfires. They have all settled in well and will remain there until the danger surrounding our property has gone.

12.01.2022 With the recent bushfires and heavy smoke, this is great information for owners and trainers on how your horse/s may have been affected by the smoke. Horses require 4-6 weeks for their lungs to recover from being exposed to heavy smoke.

If your horse is not performing as he/she normally does, lugging left or right during races, has started breaking stride or not recovering as well as usual, why not have them checked over while they are out for a spell. Spelling is a great opportunity to have your horse checked and assessed before something ‘little’ can possibly turn into something much bigger, effecting soundness and performance.

07.01.2022 Today’s catastrophic conditions All of our horses have had rugs and flyveils removed, water troughs full and mountains of hay. Although our property is quite open and ‘bushfire safe’ we do have neighbouring properties with pockets of heavy bushland.... We feel we are fairly safe here but have a backup property to evacuate to if we come under threat of fire. Owners are welcome to relocate their horses early if they would prefer, however we are here all day monitoring the RFS website etc and will do everything in our power to keep all horses safe.
06.01.2022 The only negative to running a spelling property is that we become attached to all of them. This mare here is extra special to me and is nearing the end of her stay with us

03.01.2022 It’s a bit like that here at the moment we need a few hot days to follow this rain and we should be back to lush green grass everywhere
03.01.2022 Our horses are fed according to the season. Our winter feed AM & PM is 2 x biscuits of hay (lucerne, oaten and rye variation) and a concentrate feed of chaff, cooked grains, linseeds, sunflower seeds, salt and herbs. With the nights still being cool we have kept the night feeds of cooked grain
