24.01.2022 Friday Shoutout These couple legends absolutely epitomise what Valor is all about. They work bloody hard, they don’t complain, they are determined and they don’t sweat the small stuff. But even moreso... they are always getting around each and every other person in the gym. Supporting them, asking about them, celebrating their achievements. And always up for some silliness and banter.... @jriesterer1 and @ados_elton , thanks for being a couple of ’s

24.01.2022 Let the stepping begin!! STEPtember is off and running at Valor!

24.01.2022 You may not be responsible for what may happen to you, but you are 100% responsible for how you decide to deal with it.

24.01.2022 What an opportune time to learn something new . #remotelearning #pe

23.01.2022 It is so great to be back Strong communities with strong cultures, built on selflessness, care and empathy, are vital during challenging times. Look out for one another. Ask yourself what is 1 thing I can do today for someone else? Not for something in return, but because it is nice to do it. ... Unintentionally, good things will come back your way.

22.01.2022 We were meant to be reopening the doors again this Wednesday. That is not to be. But there is no purpose in sulking about our misfortune. It will get us no where. Instead we use this pain to become more resilient, more ‘mentally tough’, more grateful and to work on other areas of the self that have been neglected. So when we do finally come back we come back better than ever. We come back a better person. Maybe not a fitter person. But that’s okay, because becoming a better person is far more valuable than just being a very fit, but shittier person.

22.01.2022 Finally! Our kids classes are coming back from Feb the 1st! We have rejigged the format and will be moving the classes to weekday afternoons. For more info, shoot us a message here!

21.01.2022 It is the most wonderful workout of the year #12daysofchristmas

20.01.2022 In this ultra fast paced, must get ahead/must keep up rat racing world, so many of us experience or are experiencing burnout. Complete and utter exhaustion, brain fog and a loss of connection to our work, friends and family. The COVID lockdown has helped a lot of people to stop for a moment and realise that they were way too busy in their former pre-COVID life. Committing to too much and never actually living in the moment. On the flip side, many people have been working har...der than ever during this lockdown and haven't truly been able to give themselves the opportunity to stop and process what the heck has gone on this year. That inability to process a significant change to our world, mixed with hectic overworking is an absolute recipe for potential burnout. In this episode, Stu talks about and shares his own story of burnout. what it is, what causes it, what typical human behaviours make it worse and how to get off the debilitating and never-ending merry-go-round of work, work, parent, commitment, work, work parent, commitment... 20.01.2022 Struggles, challenges and suffering are an inevitable fact of life. 2020 can vouch for that. Yet despite this fact, many of us live with the aim to avoid all struggle and suffering. But of course we eventually fail to dodge it.... When it does eventually come, we often lack the tools to cope with these struggles. The legendary Lachy Wallace (@theexcellencecoach) of @virtusperformance joins me to chat about struggle, how people view struggle, how to cope with it, and how to not only overcome it, but grow from it. The final episode of season 1 has arrived a little late on your podcast apps, but I think it is more fitting for it to hit your phones in a fresh new year, with fresh new ears and hopefully following a little more reflection time on the past year (and when I say year, I mean shitshow). Enjoy!

19.01.2022 Stretching sucks! We all hate it, unless you're a yogi. We all hate stretching so much that you're probably umming and arring as to whether you will even bother listening to this episode! It's boring, it hurts, we don't have time for it. ... But man do we need it! And man do you need to listen to this episode! Kristie and Stu chat about why having good mobility is so important, why we don't value it enough, why we put it on the back burner and how we can overcome all of these problems so we can move better, have less injuries, hit more PR's, be pain free at work or with the kids, for good! 19.01.2022 Positive social connection is vital to our mental health and wellbeing. As we get older our social circles tend to shrink or disappear completely. Gyms can be that community that provide people with social connection. Gyms can also be a toxic place filled with narcissism, comparison and unhealthy competition. It is imperative that gyms foster a positive, supportive, inclusive, clique-free, judgement free culture. In doing so the gym becomes so much more than a ‘gym’. It becomes a second family, for every member.

19.01.2022 Striving for an excellent culture makes every success a team effort. . Whether or not they knew it, it wasn’t just Johnny and I that got him that muscle up. . Truman spent the extra time with him after class. ... . The entire 6pm crew got around him every time he practiced. . Sally at 5am sent him a few video tips. . Kristie gave him the shout out on the members group for his efforts 5 weeks before he even achieved the feat. . Krysten gave him nutrition advice to help aid his ability to achieve such a physically demanding movement. . But it goes well beyond that. It is the inclusive, classless and cliqueless behaviour all members display. . It is the attitude shared that all goals are equal and all journeys are unique. . It is knowing when to be competitive with one another for the purpose of shared betterment and when it is just to pump up ego’s and swing dicks. . It is the shared stories of gratitude, struggles and success. . These values and shared ideals all contribute to not only creating an enjoyable space to be a part of, these values and ideals help foster greater individual success. . By feeling supported and safe, our members thrive. . And the best bit is, they’re all involved in the process, they all help influence each other's success. . It’s not just me and our coaching team. . We don’t get to take all the glory, we don’t want to either. . A champion team always trumps a team of champions.... . New blog in bio now See more

18.01.2022 It's pretty safe to say that 2020 has been rough. For most of us, rougher than we've ever had it before by a long shot. But from pressure and suffering comes change, and mostly positive change at that... if you have been paying attention and not hiding under a blanket all year. Today I discuss some of the major lessons and reinforced messages I was hearing loud and clear during our big double (plus time on x 5) lockdown. Truly important lessons that may not have gotten throu...gh had we all be rushing around doing the same old stuff we have been doing every other year. As rough as this year has been, it is time to look at much of what has happened as a gift, not a curse. A gift that if you did have your head up, if you were paying attention, it will help shape a very promising future to come. Episode out now on all podcast places. 07.01.2022 You come to the gym for change. On the surface it’s weight loss, or sickk gainz. But underneath it for so much more. . We want confidence, self esteem, acceptance, to fit in, a social atmosphere, to feel physically capable, to run around with our kids, to feel proud of our efforts, to not be ashamed of ourselves, to feel in control of our lives, to see our own penis again for the first time in 20 years... . Once we engulf ourselves in the gym atmosphere, we often forget thes...e things. We begin to compare ourselves to others. We chase unrealistic and completely unrelated goals. We make strange decisions in order to achieve someone else’s version of success. We lose sight of why we joined a gym in the first place. . It is vital that gyms do not skew the goals of clients in order to suit their own biases and agendas. We need to help our members realise that they are already worthy, seen and accepted. Their journey at your gym is to help them excel at the person they already are, not try become someone they are not. See more

03.01.2022 It’s easy to sell quick fix solutions to desperate clients. But is it the right thing to do? As much as gym members seeking weight loss and performance gains need to take the long road if they desire sustainable results, so do gym owners/managers. Nothing is more rewarding for gyms and passionate trainers when they influence positive change, and it is done so with morals and ethics still intact. The lure of quick $$ after a long slog is just as tempting as the lure of an inst...ant bikini bod after enduring slow fitness progress and lean dieting. But the rewards of enduring the long road, overcoming the obstacles, coming out on top, becoming not only fitter and leaner, but a better person too. This can only be achieved while maintaining integrity, trusting the process and being true to yourself.

02.01.2022 wishing you all a wonderful time with those most important to you
