25.01.2022 Take your horses camping !

24.01.2022 Next Saturday in Traralgon ! Open to all HRCAV riders at a fantastic friendly club. https://facebook.com/events/s/kelly-van-den-berg/970581176764362/?ti=icl

23.01.2022 Following consultation with the relevant government agencies, Equestrian Victoria, HRCAV, PCV and RDAV advise that the current restrictions for Stage 4 Metrop...olitan Melbourne and Stage 3 Regional Victoria, will remain in force until the Victorian Roadmap to Reopening commences from 11:59pm 13 September 2020. Read the current restrictions https://www.vic.equestrian.org.au//EQUESTRIAN%20VICTORIA%2 METROPOLITAN MELBOURNE ROADMAP For Metropolitan Melbourne, the First Step Commences at 11:59pm on 13 September 2020. Restrictions for equestrian activity remain the same as currently in place for Stage 4 - Metropolitan Melbourne. Subject to trigger points and public health advice, the government MAY then move Melbourne Metropolitan to the Second Step from 28 September 2020, but ONLY if those trigger points have been met. We are still awaiting clarification of what the impact on equestrians under Step 2, Metropolitan Melbourne may be. When will Metro Melbourne move to the Second Step Metro Melbourne can move to the second step after 28 September 2020 AND when we reach an average daily case rate in metro Melbourne of 30 to 50 cases over a 14 day period with public health advice regarding transmission source. Restrictions for equestrian activity remain the same as are currently in place for Stage 3 - Regional Victoria. When will Regional Victoria move to the Third Step When specified trigger points and public health conditions are met, then, the Government MAY move Regional Victoria to Step 3. Those trigger points are when: - Daily average number of cases in the last 14 days in Regional Victoria is less than 5 AND - Less than 0 cases in Regional Victoria with an unknown source in the last 14 days. Links: Website: https://www.vic.gov.au/restrictions-roadmap-regional-victor PDF: http://bit.ly/RegionalRoadmap The current provision to care for your horse/s under animal welfare grounds is still in place. This applies to both Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria. We must all remember that we are in the middle of a global pandemic. Victoria is at the centre of this pandemic in Australia, and how we all behave over the next few weeks determines how successful or otherwise we emerge on the other side. We understand that there will be disappointment and frustration that there is no further relaxation of restrictions at this point, but we will continue to advocate on behalf of the equestrian community. Once we have further information, we will email all members direct. MATTHEW BROWN CEO - Equestrian Victoria

22.01.2022 Before backing your youngster please read - A horse ages roughly 3 times faster than a human. So a 90 year old human is a 30 year old horse. Both very old, usu...ally arthritic, don’t have many of their original teeth left, and very likely retired and enjoying the finer things in life. A 25 year old horse is a 75 year old human. Still works so far. A 20 year old horse is a 60 year old human. At that point where the body doesn’t work like it use to but the brain is all there and wants to be active. A 13 year old horse is a 39 year old human. Middle aged, prime of their life where their knowledge and physical ability are about equal. So let’s get down to the babies and work our way up. A 3 year old horse is a 9 year old child. A child. Not ready for work by a long stretch. We have moved past sending children down the mines. A 4 year old horse is a 12 year old child. Often will do odd jobs for pocket money, maybe a paper round, mowing lawns etc. Basically a 4 yo horse can start a bit of light work to earn their keep. A 5 year old horse is a 15 year old teenager. Think they know it all, cocky, and ready to up their work and responsibilities. Still quite weak and not fully developed so shouldn’t be at their physical limit but can start building strength. A 6 year old horse is an 18 year old human. An adult. Ready to work hard. Pushing your youngster too hard too young will result in failure of many body parts. Joints, tendons, ligaments as well as their brains. Waiting one year at the beginning can give a horse another 10 years of useful working life. Be patient with your pride and joy! 14.01.2022 We’ve all had a special relationship with a horse. Every relationship is special but there is that extra special one that stands apart from all the others. I’ve had some lovely horses, all with unique personalities but my once in life, best mate is my beautiful mare Russia who is now living out her retirement with me at home. Graham Salisbury and Sub Zero were another pair. Inseparable best mates. ... Tommy Woodcock is often remembered for his relationship with Phar Lap but later in life he was blessed to have a long and special companionship with Reckless. Who is your best mate for life ?

13.01.2022 There has been a lot floating around on this subject for years. It’s always good to have a read and make sure you’re using the right type of boots for the right types of reasons. Horses welfare first https://equimanagement.com//horse-skin-temperature-under-b

09.01.2022 VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT 7-DAY COVID CIRCUIT BREAKER As per this morning's Victorian Government update, the existing COVID-19 related Public Health Orders have ch...anged, and a state-wide 7-day circuit breaker has been announced. Effective from 11.59pm tonight (Thursday 27 May) until 11.59pm Thursday 3 June, a circuit breaker will be implemented with only five reasons to leave your home: 1. Shopping for necessary goods and services 2. Authorised work or permitted education 3. Exercise with a 2hr limit and with one other person 4. Care giving, compassionate and medical reasons 5. To get vaccinated Face masks must be worn indoors and outdoors unless you have a valid exemption. CARING FOR YOUR HORSE. You may leave home to care for and attend to your horse, under the fourth reason to leave home: Care giving, compassionate and medical reasons. This includes if your horse is housed more than 5km from your home. However, at this stage we are asking everyone to stay as close to home as possible and be mindful that you may be required to provide evidence for your reason to travel. We recommend carrying proof ownership (i.e., registration papers), the location of your horse and the reason that you are travelling. If you need to leave home to tend to your horse(s), the restrictions travel with you and so you need to follow the same rules as if you were at home. Face masks must be worn at all times even when outside, unless exemptions apply. You should provide care for your horse in as limited time as possible, at all times government social distancing and hygiene requirements must be adhered to. EXERCISING YOUR HORSE What is permitted Riding to exercise your horse for welfare reasons (Reason No 4) Riding your horse as part of your exercise for 2 hours with one other person within 5km of your house (Reason No 4) What is not permitted Riding for YOUR exercise outside of 5km from your home. If you are riding your horse for your exercise, then the exercise guidelines apply to YOU (Reason No 3). Face masks must also be worn at all times when you are outside of your home, unless exemptions apply. VETERINARY CARE AND FEED SUPPLIES/AUTHORISED WORKERS The following workers are classified as authorised providers and authorised worker list a pet store; or a veterinary clinic, and related services (on-farm visits and animal care services) where there is a genuine animal welfare issue, or for the purposes of artificial insemination; or professional or high-performance sportsperson, workers that support the safe running of that person's professional sport, and public broadcast personnel necessary for broadcasting the professional sport; INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SPORT AND PHYSICAL RECREATION Indoor and outdoor physical recreation and sport is closed (playgrounds remain open). We know this is a challenging time, especially for anyone with events in the next 7 days (and near future). Reach out if you need any help or want further clarity. We will continue to provide updates as more information comes to hand. Stay safe and take care. MATTHEW BROWN
