24.01.2022 On todays Songwriter Sessions I will be telling the stories and playing the songs of the Divinyls; the unique and innovative, five piece band from Sydney with the charismatic lead singer who dressed in a St Trinian's school girl outfit and waved a provocative, glow in the dark wand attached to a microphone. They burst onto the Australian music scene in the early 80's with three little words; I Touch Myself. A song that was banned from television but not radio where it went to No 1 on the charts. Who wrote the songs for the Divinyls? Tune in and find out from 2pm-4pm today on 2bbb FM.

23.01.2022 Tune in from 2pm - 4pm Tuesday to the Songwriter Sessions on 2bbb FM to hear stories and songs from this weeks featured artists Pink Floyd. They were an album band and their albums were designed to be consumed as a whole. They weren't trying to ride to the top of the singles charts, they were writing rock opera's. Did you know that The Dark Side of The Moon is the fourth best selling album of all time? Did you know that they only had one number one hit? Come and join me to find out more about this amazing band.

22.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE 27 March 2020 COVID-19 CHANGES AT 2BBB In response to the current Coronavirus situation, the Board of Community Radio 2BBB has temporarily suspe...nded all live broadcasting of programs from its Wheatley Street studios in Bellingen, in order to protect both its volunteers and the public. This decision applies from today until further notice, and the 2BBB studios themselves are now officially closed. However, the station remains on-air, and will continue to provide an ongoing broadcasting service to the local region, albeit with a number of necessary changes. With its presenters, as well as its listeners essentially housebound for the time being, many new ways of producing and delivering programs are currently being explored. Some of the station’s local presenters will still be able to create their programs remotely from home and deliver them to the station digitally, where they will be rebroadcast, while other presenters will be regularly providing online music playlists to share with listeners. The station also maintains its 24/7 access to the Community Radio Network (CRN), which provides high-quality national talk and music programs to Community stations around the country, including National Radio News (NRN) bulletins and the weekday 5:05pm national current affairs program ‘The Wire’. With 2BBB Board member Kye Ruigrok coordinating the local on-air aspects of the revised programming schedule from home, a number of new initiatives will also be progressively introduced in the coming days and weeks. These include: Starting Monday 30 March, Kye and Kevin Evans we will be presenting a daily 2-hour home-based community news program which will be broadcast from 8am-10am, Monday to Friday. This will include the latest relevant information, plus interviews with local community groups, businesses and health professionals. If you have any story ideas for this program you can get in touch with Kye and Kevin via the station’s email: [email protected] Starting this Saturday morning at 10am is a new local music program hosted by local musician Josh McGovern from LTTLE KNG. This program will feature music 100% from the Mid-North Coast, in order to showcase regional talent and to help the local arts and music community through these hard times. As an essential broadcasting service, 2BBB remains committed to providing listeners in the Bellingen Shire and surrounding region with a vibrant mix of news, information and entertainment, and will be expanding its new programming options as widely as possible in the coming weeks. We request your patience and involvement during this changeover period, and look forward to returning to our normal full broadcasting format as soon as possible. We trust that you, your family and friends will remain safe and healthy, and that our shared community stays strong. We’re all in this together.

21.01.2022 My featured artist for Tuesday's Songwriter Sessions (20 Oct) is Burt Bacharach; an American composer, songwriter, producer, and pianist, who has written hundreds of pop songs from the late 1950s to the present. In fact, he released his latest single this month at the age of 92! He has won six Grammys and three Oscars and his songs have been recorded by over 1,000 different artists. He has written 73 US and 52 UK Top 40 hits and is considered one of the most important composers of 20th-century popular music. And of course along with Burt is his long time lyricist Hal David. So tune in from 2pm-4pm and hear his songs and his stories.

18.01.2022 On the Songwriter Sessions on Tuesday (27th October) I will be featuring the Greek Cypriot/Swedish/British singer songwriter, multi instrumentalist Steven Georgiou aka Yusuf Islam or Cat Stevens. Why did he change his name from Steven Georgiou to Cat Stevens and then to Yusuf Islam? Why did he stop performing? Why did a child from Greek Orthodox and Baptist parents attend a Roman Catholic school and then go on to convert to Islam while his brother converted to Judaism? So many questions and so many songs! But I will have a lot of fun presenting this show to you; telling his stories and playing many of his hit songs. Tune in from 2pm on 2bbb FM.

09.01.2022 Gone But Not Forgotten. This week I'm looking at bands that have sadly lost contributing members. Did the bands survive with a replacement or did they just fold and fade away? 05.01.2022 On this weeks Songwriter Sessions I will be featuring the inimitable Roberta Joan 'Joni' Mitchell. She is a Canadian poet, singer songwriter, artist and multi instrumentalist. Her songs draw from the pop, jazz, rock and folk genre and after a career that has been filled with huge success, Grammy and Juno Awards and the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Canadian Music Hall of Fame and being awarded the companion of the Order of Canada she now lives quietly after suffering a brain aneurism at 73 yrs of age. "When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century" said a columnist at AllMusic and I must agree. You can hear the stories and the music from 2pm Tuesday 25th August on 2bbb FM.

04.01.2022 Don't forget todays Saturday Shift from 1pm-3pm. Lots of great music from a variety of artists. Some you'll know, others will be new but they are all great songs.

The deaths of these young, talented musicians shocked the world and inspired many songs including Don McLean's 1971 Grammy Award winning song American Pie. It's going to be a big one that I hope you will enjoy.

02.01.2022 Ninth week recording from home and counting down to getting back into the studio, although no time soon by the sound of things. This week's featured songwriters are members of The Doobie Brothers - Pat Simmons (who wrote Black Water, a slow burning B side song), Tom Johnston and late coming, game changer Michael McDonald. "Well, I built me a raft and she's ready for floatin' Ol' Mississippi, she's callin' my name. Catfish are jumpin', that paddle wheel thumpin'. Black water keep rollin' on past just the same." Simmons cites the song's opening section as "my childhood imaginings of the South from reading Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer" whereas other lyrics draw on his actual experiences visiting the South. Tune in Tuesday 26th from 2pm to hear all the hits and stories from the bands incredible 50 year history.
