24.01.2022 On the Songwriter Sessions on Tuesday (27th October) I will be featuring the Greek Cypriot/Swedish/British singer songwriter, multi instrumentalist Steven Georgiou aka Yusuf Islam or Cat Stevens. Why did he change his name from Steven Georgiou to Cat Stevens and then to Yusuf Islam? Why did he stop performing? Why did a child from Greek Orthodox and Baptist parents attend a Roman Catholic school and then go on to convert to Islam while his brother converted to Judaism? So many questions and so many songs! But I will have a lot of fun presenting this show to you; telling his stories and playing many of his hit songs. Tune in from 2pm on 2bbb FM.

18.01.2022 Listen in from 1pm to hear lots of summer songs on the Saturday Shift because it's hot, hot, hot here today!!

18.01.2022 Tomorrow on the Songwriter Sessions I am featuring the Brothers Gibb. We claimed them as our own for so long but they really belong to the world. Only Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson and Garth Brooks have outsold the Bee Gees and they are the third most successful band in Billboard charts history after the Beatles and the Supremes. Tune in to 2bbb FM for lots of stories and songs from 2pm, Tuesday 29 September.

16.01.2022 Continuing on with my Country themed January, Tuesday's Songwriter Sessions will feature Australian singer/songwriter John Williamson. His career began back in 1970 when he released a song called Old Man Emu. It was a comedy song that gained him some followers, however it wasn't until 16 years later when his album Mallee Boy was released that he became a serious contender for Aussie singer songwriter royalty. Tune in from 2pm tomorrow on 2bbb FM to hear John and lots of other great Aussie inspired songs and songwriters.

15.01.2022 The Tamworth Music Festival of 2021 has been cancelled, so to give a voice to our great Australian Country singer songwriters I will be having a month of Country. Tomorrow on the Songwriter Sessions, I will be featuring the prolific songwriter, Kasey Chambers whose distinctive voice makes her instantly recognisable. "So everybody sing around the campfire, where the song of the Curlew awaits. And dance with me under the moonlight, until the morning breaks." So tune in at 2pm Tuesday and join me for two hours of music and stories from notable musicians.

14.01.2022 Today on the Songwriter Sessions, I'll be featuring the iconic Australian singer songwriter, producer, piano player Don Walker whose famous song Flame Trees was written about Grafton, where he grew up. He spent ten years as the driving songwriting force behind the immensely popular and successful pub band, Cold Chisel which he co-found. He has since gone on to a solo career after spending a few years in a super group called Tex, Don and Charlie with Tex Perkins and Charlie Owen. His songs are known across the world with Khe San becoming one of the most popular songs in Australian history. Tune into Bellinger Valley community radio station 2bbb FM from 2pm to hear his stories and songs.

13.01.2022 Tomorrow on the Songwriter Sessions I will be playing Christmas songs and discussing the songwriters and the stories behind them. Did you know one of the Christmas songs I will be playing is the best selling single in music history? But it's not all snow and reindeer, I'm gonna chuck in a cuppla Aussie tunes as well. This will be my last show before Christmas so I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas that hopefully won't be spent in lock down but will be spent in the loving company of friends and family. Thank you for listening to my shows and I will catch you next year on 2bbb FM.

13.01.2022 Why do I find it hard to find Australian, female singer/songwriters from the 60's? Here's an insight into the problems that they faced.

13.01.2022 On this weeks Songwriter Sessions I will be featuring the inimitable Roberta Joan 'Joni' Mitchell. She is a Canadian poet, singer songwriter, artist and multi instrumentalist. Her songs draw from the pop, jazz, rock and folk genre and after a career that has been filled with huge success, Grammy and Juno Awards and the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Canadian Music Hall of Fame and being awarded the companion of the Order of Canada she now lives quietly after suffering a brain aneurism at 73 yrs of age. "When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century" said a columnist at AllMusic and I must agree. You can hear the stories and the music from 2pm Tuesday 25th August on 2bbb FM.

13.01.2022 On todays Songwriter Sessions I will be telling the stories and playing the songs of the Divinyls; the unique and innovative, five piece band from Sydney with the charismatic lead singer who dressed in a St Trinian's school girl outfit and waved a provocative, glow in the dark wand attached to a microphone. They burst onto the Australian music scene in the early 80's with three little words; I Touch Myself. A song that was banned from television but not radio where it went to No 1 on the charts. Who wrote the songs for the Divinyls? Tune in and find out from 2pm-4pm today on 2bbb FM.

11.01.2022 Tomorrow's featured artist on the Songwriter Sessions will be Australian producer, singer songwriter and musician, Ross Wilson of Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock fame. Tune in from 2pm to hear the songs and the stories.

You will hear stories and songs from Paul Kelly an Adelaide born storyteller who's songs are part of the Australian psyche as well as people who have worked closely with him or covered his songs. Listen in from 2pm-4pm Tuesday 8th September on 2bbb FM.

08.01.2022 Tune in from 2pm - 4pm Tuesday to the Songwriter Sessions on 2bbb FM to hear stories and songs from this weeks featured artists Pink Floyd. They were an album band and their albums were designed to be consumed as a whole. They weren't trying to ride to the top of the singles charts, they were writing rock opera's. Did you know that The Dark Side of The Moon is the fourth best selling album of all time? Did you know that they only had one number one hit? Come and join me to find out more about this amazing band.

06.01.2022 Going full blown country this week with the incredibly talented, cultural icon that is Dolly Parton. She is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian and her songwriting skills have established her as a presence on both the country and pop music charts for decades. Join me on Tuesday from 2pm-4pm to hear the songs and the stories from her life.

06.01.2022 Next Tuesday (3rd Nov) I will be featuring the songs and stories of Carly Simon. Of course you can't have Carly without adding a wee bit of James Taylor so he will be included as well. Tune in from 2-4pm on 2bbb FM Community Radio and join me for a couple of hours of great music.

04.01.2022 Tune in at 2pm on Tuesday 18th August to hear the stories and songs connected to the deaths of The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens in a plane crash back in February 1959. The deaths of these young, talented musicians shocked the world and inspired many songs including Don McLean's 1971 Grammy Award winning song American Pie. It's going to be a big one that I hope you will enjoy.

04.01.2022 Tune in Tuesday (Live in the studio) at 2pm to hear the songs and stories of Australia's own Brian Cadd. I saw him in concert a few years back and he was incredible. What a back catalogue of songs he has. You can stream the show from www.2bbb.net.au or tune into 93.3 or 107.3 FM radio.

03.01.2022 Next Tuesday (6th Oct) I'll be featuring the most successful songwriter of all time, Sir Paul McCartney. Tune in to hear stories and music from his incredible lifetime within the music industry. 2pm-4pm on 2bbb FM Community Radio.

02.01.2022 Well that was a year to remember! With only two days left, can 2020 bring us anything else? It tore up my finger yesterday, leading to a hospital visit and a six or seven week break from playing my stringed instruments so it is still handing out gifts. So this Tuesday I'm playing songs that define the year. Songs written in and about the pandemic, quarantine, lock-down as well as songs just expressing how the songwriters were feeling this year. Happy New Year to you all.

01.01.2022 Gone But Not Forgotten. This week I'm looking at bands that have sadly lost contributing members. Did the bands survive with a replacement or did they just fold and fade away? And what of their fans? Dolores O'Riordan, Jim Morrison, Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Karen Carpenter the list just goes on and on. Tune in at 2pm to hear the stories and the songs on 2bbb FM's Songwriter Sessions.

01.01.2022 Tune into 2bbb FM from 2pm Tuesday 23rd June to hear all things Peter Allen who is my featured artist for this week.

01.01.2022 My featured artist for Tuesday's Songwriter Sessions (20 Oct) is Burt Bacharach; an American composer, songwriter, producer, and pianist, who has written hundreds of pop songs from the late 1950s to the present. In fact, he released his latest single this month at the age of 92! He has won six Grammys and three Oscars and his songs have been recorded by over 1,000 different artists. He has written 73 US and 52 UK Top 40 hits and is considered one of the most important composers of 20th-century popular music. And of course along with Burt is his long time lyricist Hal David. So tune in from 2pm-4pm and hear his songs and his stories.
