21.01.2022 Walking the dog doesnt always go to plan

21.01.2022 When little Bindi arrived into our care, we really didnt know what to expect. Knowing that her owners had tried to stone her to death, that she had bitten the ...ranger and ran away when he had caught her and her finally being captured with the use of a dog trap, we were concerned about how social she would be and we were prepared for a long period of rehabilitation. Before we had even met her, we had nicknamed her Bitey McBitey and to be honest, our expectations of her were pretty low. We are pretty used to dealing with dogs who have some issues so rather than send Bindi to foster care, we brought her home with us. I figured it was much better that she bite me (or preferably Ian) than a carer but the minute she arrived, we were incredibly confused. The dog who came off transport was nothing like the dog we had expected. She was gentle and friendly and so, so, so sweet. Bindi is the most beautiful natured dog that we have seen in a long time. She is great with other dogs and loves humans of all ages. Bindi has not put a foot wrong, she has encountered strangers and vets and shown nothing but love. Bindi is quiet and friendly and a far cry from the dog we were expecting, and I can tell you that whoever is lucky enough to adopt her is getting a total gem. Despite being only 18 months old, Bindi is well behaved, super smart and very, very treat focussed so training her will be an absolute breeze. In fact, she learned to sit in less than 5 minutes and didnt take her eye off the treat person for the next hour! Bindi is great with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. She is well behaved in the house and the car. She is happy and deserves a great home with humans who will love her as much as we do and include her as part of the family. Bindi loves a cuddle, she is super loyal, she adores her humans and she is practically perfect. PLEASE NOTE: This pet is located in Kingaroy. To apply, please go to the website www.karmasplacerescue.org.au and fill in the online adoption enquiry form See more

18.01.2022 It was so much fun having you over for the weekend Tokyo you crazy pug

18.01.2022 Paddy The Personality is Adoption Ready Where do we start ? This boy is an absolute bundle of fun. ... He has come into rescue with a wild abandon rarely seen he just loves loves loves life and would very much like to get on with the one that has the perfect ending as the last one was not that great. Described by the pound as a Bull Arab X ( hmm .. lets try Border Collie x maybe) he is still a pup at about 9 months old. Super friendly and full of beans, he has yet to meet a dog or human he doesn’t get along with famously. A born comedian , he just loves to entertain and show off. He is also a real chatterbox ..likes to have his say about everything this one. Super smart, he is enjoying his training when its something he wants to do. With lots of energy and smarts, he will not do well being left alone for long periods and really would benefit from a doggy brother or sister to goof around with. If you want a brilliant all round dog who is going to make you laugh out loud, be your best buddy, who is happy to chat about whatever is wrong in the world, who will be great company on car rides, who will keep you fit with walks ( and runs if it takes your fancy) .. Paddy The Personality is your boy. His forever family will be blessed indeed he is a Superstar. Paddy has been desexed, vaccinated to date and is microchipped as well as flea and worm treated. His adoption fee in $495 and he is currently in foster care at Coes Creek on the Sunshine Coast. If you are interested in meeting Paddy please send us a message we do miss comments. PLEASE, please take the time to give us as much information as you can in your message about you and the lifestyle you could offer to Paddy. Only those selected for meets will be contacted so please don’t be shy in selling yourself Thank you for understanding this. BIN0000238803153

17.01.2022 **EDIT Please, please, please be patient!! Please stop asking to be placed on a waiting list. Please stop messaging the page or calling us in regards to the pu...ps. They are many weeks of being available for new homes.we are not taking names down or excepting preadoption interest in them. My phone hasnt stopped all day, I think Ive received about 60 calls!! Its almost 7pm and my phone is still ringing All this yet still trying to run the rescue and take calls from carers, vets and other people in need of help. I understand your excited but we are a very small team. Jean helps with all the messages, Kayla helps with surrenders and the page and Im also running the page, adoptions, vets, fosters and answering phone and emails. So Im asking for our sanity, please be patient with us. We will post updates on the page over the coming weeks. Last night we welcomed 4 sets of paws into our rescue. 2 little boys and 2 little girls. These pups were being offered for sale on FB and after contacting their owner to let them know that they are not permitted to do so, she surrendered them into our care. Ive been speaking with Scott from Greyhound Racing Vic and Sean from they Greyhound Adoption Program this morning to make sure weve got these kids on the right path. While weve had greyhounds in the past, these are my first greyhound babies. I cant thank them both enough for their support. So please join me in welcoming these fast little paws into our rescue. *not yet available for adoption

16.01.2022 Little mr Charlie has clearly missed us and approved of our forever home we bought

15.01.2022 So I was having some big problems with Zeus gulping his food then begging for more like he was starving and Zoey not wanting to eat because he muzzle would get dirty especially when I added things like Greek yogurt, bone broth, raw egg or anything liquid like... I got them slow feeder bowls that are for bigger dogs and they absolutely love them. Zeus takes a good 15mins to eat and Zoey will eat anything I put in it because her muzzle doesnt get wet... Sometimes when your dog is not eating/refusing food or over eating it may just be a simple thing of lets make it more interesting for you. Not only does it slow them down it is also a mental workout and game for them which they enjoy

04.01.2022 What is going over the threshold and why is it important? Threshold is the crossing/changing from one emotional state to another. Emotional/behavioural thresh...olds vary depending on time such as accumulated experiences or exposures, your dogs health, trigger stacking, the intensity of the trigger(s) or different situations/environments. A good way to think of this is your dog having an emotional bucket. Positive or negative experiences/stressors, fear or anxiety responses to triggers are all cups of water being added to your dogs emotional water bucket. Going over the threshold is a physiological and physical response. When a dog is over the threshold they are not thinking, theyre reacting in a emotional states such as fear, stress or arousal/overexcitement responses. That means they can bark, lunge, growl, be snappy, have zoomies, freeze in fear, chew your pillows or other destructive behaviours, be so easily distracted that they cant think or excessively mouth/nip or jump. If you see your dogs emotional state changing such as theyre stopping eating, get snappy/rough with food, start fidgeting or sniffing the ground when seeing a strange dog take preventative action. This can be walking your dog away from the scary thing, leaving the situation or playing games to refocus. Example of your dogs emotional bucket overflowing/ going over the threshold: - Initial triggers; the mailman, garbage collectors, meeting family members outside, seeing a scary unknown dog on a walk from a distance, being in pain and walking into the vet clinic - Continued exposure to the trigger or experience: the scary dog on the walk comes closer, getting groomed after garbage man, going for a long picnic with family members and their dog, being in pain and waiting in the waiting room at the vet clinic - Over the threshold: your dog is now reacting: scary dog comes very near to your dog, groomer uses loud hair blow dryer, child at the picnic grabs the dogs tail after the picnic, being in pain and examined by the vet Once your dogs emotional water bucket has overflowed and theyve gone over the threshold, it will take them at least 72 hours for their cortisol (stress hormone) levels to drop. Think of this as a very small hole in your dogs emotional bucket that slowly takes time to empty and return to normal levels. Your goal should always be to prevent your dogs emotional bucket from overflowing, to help them stay under threshold.
