19.01.2022 Regional Victoria is once again in Stage 3 Covid-19 restrictions. People are staying home again. At this stage, we believe we are fine to stay open, albeit with reduced hours. We can home deliver orders in the local area. Just give us a call.

18.01.2022 We have a few copies of the Richmond 2020 Premiers DVD. Any tiger fans out there will need to be quick to snap these up. (We can always get more, I suppose.)

18.01.2022 A big shout-out to all our friends who called in yesterday to help us celebrate our 6th birthday at Variety Bookroom. It's not an easy time but we have a LOT to be grateful for. I have a very large Peter Rabbit poster that I'm happy to give to anyone who wants it. It will go in the rubbish tomorrow if I don't hear from anyone today.

14.01.2022 Thanks to all our friends (aka customers) for your support over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, the shop was closed on the 9th and 11th September due to Coronavirus testing. Sandie and I both had colds so we did the right thing and went off to a testing station. It was only at the end of the third day that we received our negative test results. We are persisting with reduced hours, closing 2pm on Mondays, 4pm Tuesday to Friday. Normal times on Saturday. But we are willing to make special arrangements for people who cannot get here during these opening hours. We count it a privilege to help you in whatever way we can, both now and as we look to further easing of Covid-19 restrictions in the future.

09.01.2022 The Moe New Life Op Shop is currently closed due to the pandemic. Our friends there asked if we would be interested in carrying their range of games and jigsaw puzzles until they can reopen. We agreed and the stock was set up in store yesterday. Proceeds from the Op Shop go to a very worthwhile program called the Murle Education Foundation, which provides education for children in African refugee camps. Variety Bookroom will, of course, pass on the proceeds of any sales.

09.01.2022 It's been a long time since I posted anything here. Three things to report. 1) We did have plans to expand the shop, which would have been nice, but it looks like we have to be content with what we already have. 2) We are going ahead with plans to launch a new website. We don't propose to list every book that we have in store but mainly our extensive range of old and rare books, which people will be able to purchase online. 3) We didn't completely close our doors at any time during 2020 - we just went to more restricted hours. But this current lockdown affected all of Victoria so we have been closed since Friday evening. Hopefully, we will be open again on Thursday morning, 9 am.

07.01.2022 Lots of great new stuff over the past few days. Tom Doig's Hazelwood, the fully updated story of the Hazelwood mine fire, is now allowed to be sold - at long last! We also have the Seekers Hidden Treasures CD - 27 "resurrected and restored" tracks, including old jingles, sea shanties (I'm not kidding!) and the actual recordings of their famous 1967 Sydney Myer Music Bowl concert. Music from the Home Front is a CD of the Anzac Day concert in aid of the fight against Covid-19.... Delta Goodrem joined up with Colin Hay for a new performance of Down Under. No point trying to list all the Aussie artists on this CD, They're pretty much ALL here! Finally, I was a bit embarrassed to flick through "My Dad Thinks He's Funny" and the sequel "My Dad STILL thinks He's Funny". I have to admit (cough, cough) that I have used several of these Dad jokes on my poor unsuspecting family. I still have one original that Katrina Germein didn't use. When my kids asked if they could watch the TV, I used to say "Sure, but don't turn it on!" (Yeah, I know!) See more

05.01.2022 This year, for Mums Day, our special Variety Bookroom vouchers include a 20% discount for purchases made in May or June. So Mum can help herself to over $60 worth of books, etc, on a $50 voucher. Of course, we can do them for any value. Happy Mothers Day to all the mums. We appreciate you very much!
