24.01.2022 Queensland Rosewood combined gold plated hardware, twist body pen in deep gloss finish. Prestigious but practical hand crafted pen. Each pen is individually crafted, matched with hardware to suit the individual timber chosen. These are unique. No two pens are the same, nor can they be replicated. Although the finish on the pen is hard and resilient, the pen is presented in its own case, with a drawstring pouch to protect its hand polished finish. An individual information card is also included to ensure the longevity of these beautiful pens. AU$220.00

24.01.2022 Thank you so much to everyone for celebrating this weeks show achievements with me. It is more than heartwarming to have all the wonderful feedback on the turned bowl and lovely Queensland Rosewood pen. The gorgeous pen will be off to its new home after the weekend, and the magic and unique little turned bowl will be on the page for sale. Theres been some modifications to the lathe to suit the new tooling that Id been trialing. That has been going on in the background thi...s week, but Im thinking on the test run egg tonight, its been worth the trust to have the changes made. Im a bit of a if it aint broke type of personality at times. The result of the test is this blue gum egg that isnt finished yet. Even old fence posts can be beautiful, but in a practical sense, its really good check on centres and balance before I get back into the pens.

23.01.2022 Fresh off the lathe, Ironbark burl turned bowl. It will be something unique and strikingly special once it has been finished and in its presentation setting.

11.01.2022 Sometimes when research takes one off the beaten path, and the explorer takes over. This was an off cut from the hybrid burl/resin. It lent itself rather nicely to becoming a hand crafted ring!

10.01.2022 Well, in a sea of humidity and high temps, the resins have been playing up merry hell. That includes the coatings. They can have a situation where the surface goes off very quickly and the underneath is much slower. It gives a driver river bed type of effect. To find a solution Ive been reduced to doing very fine coats a day apart on the timber and hybrids. This one has had base coat and another today. Not all bad though. I can still see where theyre headed in terms of character. It just takes longer to get to the finished product. Hairy Oak and resin hybrid. (Is going to be a euro twist body)

09.01.2022 This incredible executive twist body pen in gold plated hardware is another of the resin castings made in house. These are single run castings so there is only ever one pen made from each of these casting runs. This particular one is pearlescent deep ocean and has a luminous appearance in normal light. It also has another unique feature. It glows blue in the dark. AU$150.00

09.01.2022 Simple lines often are the most appealing to the eye. This lovely American Oak egg cup is hand turned and crafted from the selection of the timber, to the hand polished finish highlighting the grains and intricate, detailed grain that give natural timber its deep luster.

07.01.2022 Another gorgeous acrylic pen finished today. Tanami Wildfire. Vat21-002. It is another resin Ive crafted and as such, is a unique casting specifically for this pen. But enough about the resin. This beautifully balanced gold plated pen is a gel rollerball with European styling. Threaded cover that is then screwed onto the other end of the pen when in use. No losing lids. No ink runs and a lovely pen in the hand.... Sold. If you like this particular design, I can create another pen for that special occasion to suit. No two are the same. Just pm and Ill run you through the options.

07.01.2022 While waiting for the new supplies to arrive, theres nothing like a little colour experimentation to keep oneself amused. Chemistry in action. 3 different tint media to be used in 2 part epoxy casting resin rather than CA acrylic resin. Todays warmish rainy day is definitely going to keep the cure time a mystery with the high humidity. Just to ensure further random challenges, the white tubes with the blue tape are molds Im trying out.... Waiting is suspenseful. To keep oneself occupied and away from any temptation to fiddle with the molds early, Ill be setting up a beautiful new pen in the studio and will have photos up soon!

04.01.2022 Tanami Fire Vat21-003 This one finished up better than I could ever have imagined. The optical depth is just astonishing. The photos truely dont do it justice as all and Im going to have to do a video when it stops raining. The resin blank was crafted long specifically for this particular design to highlight the features within the resin casting. The pen had a quality Schmidt gel rollerball insert with threaded gold plated cap and styling. Case and pouch included in the... purchase price. AU$150.00

03.01.2022 More research being done. Playing with hybrid burl and premium resins. Well worth the effort and Im rather chuffed with the final result.

02.01.2022 Back into the shed to finish off the Christmas orders... Barrels into blanks, and final coat for the for the two turned blanks (have already been on the lathe twice) before polishing. The whole process can take up to a week for the timber and hybrid pens, depending on how many coats of acrylic are needed on the timber sections to bring out the timber character and high gloss finish.
