04.01.2022 Recovery! A big weekend of physical stunts has left me feeling beat up and aching all over so a few recovery protocols are just what’s needed. I’m a big fan of keeping things simple and recovery is no different. 1: foam rolling. I hate doing it but it does wonders for my mobility and recovery. All the major muscle groups, not a lot of complicated points, it’s good to hit it all. 2: back to the regular workouts. I don’t care to a seperate program of recovery workouts. Once up...on a time I’d do pool work (after I grew up and learned more about training and recovery. I used to just take a day off and hit the gym again when I felt ready). These days I just recommend getting back to the gym and doing low intensity, moderate volume full body workouts. A few days of gently increasing the intensity will get you back into it quickly and you can keep your routine. 3: dynamic stretching only. I do a lot of different types of flexibility training, in the few days after a big physical event I’ll stay away from static flexibility and PNF stretching. Stay with dynamic stretching and mobility work.
