22.01.2022 Halt! We have some potentially exciting news! We *may* (90% certain) have a venue for the club to resume for Term Four this year! It's still a way off, but better late than never! Coach Avery is missing the Blackmans Bay fencers terribly and can't wait to get the club up and running again.... If you haven't received an update email, please contact Coach Avery to be added to the mailing list: [email protected].

19.01.2022 Hello Everyone! We miss you so much but we are still on hold in Blackmans Bay until we can have the hall on Saturdays again. Please feel free to come along to the Tuesday sessions at the Tolosa St Hall - 148 Tolosa St in Glenorchy. They resume this Tuesday (July 21st). Please email us if you plan to come because we have a number of steps we're taking to keep everyone safe from COVID-19 and we'll send you an email about them. [email protected]... Kids will fence 5 pm - 5:50 pm and Teens + Adults will run 6:10 pm - 8 pm. Please don't enter the hall before your time slot - we need to avoid cross over between groups. Best wishes, Coach Avery

18.01.2022 Oops! We overlooked the first birthday of our Blackmans Bay arm of Van Diemen Fencing Club back on May 25th! We're not entirely sure how it can possibly be a whole year since our first Blackmans Bay members walked through the door, but it has been a wonderful adventure and we can't wait for the club to resume soon! Thank you to everyone who helps make it absolutely worth leaving the house on Saturdays to coach and spend time with a fabulous group of people!

14.01.2022 Dear Fencers, Following the lead of the FIE we ask that, for the time being, you refrain from shaking hands after bouting and instead give your opponent another... salute. Thank you, Van Diemen Fencing Club

14.01.2022 Saturday (13/3) Club is cancelled! Coach Avery is very sad and sorry; he's not 100% recovered from the bug that detained him from going to Glenorchy's Tuesday session and he'd rather play it safe and not share the love. As a few newer members are yet to complete the registration form here: https://tinyurl.com/vdfc2020 we don't have a complete list of contact details. Please help us by letting any of your fencing friends know that there won't be club tomorrow. Thank you!

08.01.2022 It's been a while (several years...) since we ordered club merch and it's definitely cold enough for a hoody! Members will find information about the tees and hoodies in the email we sent out today. If you aren't in the position to buy one right now please don't worry! We'll do another order in a few months. :) Tees $35 Hoodies $65

04.01.2022 Here's a fun trick! 1. Touch your toes as far as you can go, then stand up again. 2. Roll a firm ball under each foot for 2-3 minutes. 3. Touch your toes again and see how much further you can go!

03.01.2022 Andras Redli won team Bronze in Rio 2016 and is the last remaining member of that team. He's grown into the veteran role and leading the charge with the next generation of Hungarys Epeeist to Tokyo 2020. #fencing #roadtotokyo #andrasredli

01.01.2022 Here is a fantastic resource from the AIS. Please know that we take the health of our fencers and their loved ones very seriously and we are closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation. As well as keeping track on what other sporting associations and fencing clubs are doing to limit the risk to their members, we are making plans for ways we can deliver content to our fencers by distance should there come a time where it is necessary to temporarily postpone club sessions.... For those fencers wishing to purchase their own masks and gloves, please contact Coach Avery at [email protected] Will will keep you informed if there are any changes to club sessions. Kind regards, Van Diemen Fencing Club https://ais.gov.au/health-wellbeing/covid-19

01.01.2022 The QLD fencers are discussing French Epeeists tonight at 8 pm on Zoom. Check out these videos! :)
