25.01.2022 Richmond is where you want to be today....no questions asked @staplefoodau

25.01.2022 As much as we are astounded with the current news of hospitality re-opening in Melbourne and happy for all of the venues who can finally re-open their doors. It saddens us to say, that Mum and I have had a difficult time, like many others we have experienced so much financial stress not to mention all the pivoting during these times, which has been quite exhausting to try keep our doors open. Sadly our humble shack isn’t viable for the compliance with the social distancing ...regulations, so therefore we cannot open for dine-in and will remain as take away only. Trading hours are: >> TUES - WEDS: 11:30-3pm >> THURS - FRI: 12pm-7:30pm >> SAT: 10-7:30pm >> SUN: 10-3:30pm We are NOW providing picnic boxes which you can pre-order online, and wander up to the local park in MARY ST, see next photo. WE REQUIRE 48 hrs notice for these boxes. Grab a blanket and a few mates and enjoy your freedom in the sunshine..... See all your smiling faces soon. Xx

22.01.2022 Friday drops LIVE!!!!

22.01.2022 GIVEAWAY TIME Have you heard of tempeh before? Pronounced TEM-PAY (or i call it temp-yay)... Native to Indonesia, this soy based gem is made in a natural culturing and fermentation process that binds the soybeans together Tempeh, however is not limited to just soybeans, there are heaps of brands out there using this process with, chickpeas, rice, mung beans, even wheat. Tempeh is a healthy source of PROTEIN, and is also trans fat free Due to the fermentation process, this means it also boasts prebiotic benefits, gut health and improved digestion. Notice here I mentioned PREbiotic, it’s cannot be considered PRObiotic, as it must be cooked prior to consumption. I’m new to this lifestyle, isn’t it just like the same as tofu? Tempeh vs. Tofu: Both made from soybeans Tempeh is made from whole soybeans and requires fermentation, whereas tofu is made from soybean curd through the process of soaking, crushing, curdling and pressing soybeans. Tempeh comes out on top it has a higher nutritional content in terms of protein, fibre and is less processed Tempeh per 100g Protein: 20g Carbs: 8g per (1g net) Fibre: 9g per Fats: 11g per Tofu per 100g Protein: 8g per Carbs: 1.9g Fibre: 0.3g Fats: 4.8g Okay, so how can I cook tempeh? My favourite way is to either panfry, bake it or fry it in a yum marinade. Replace it for the meat in tacos, bakon on your breakfast plate, protein in your salad. The options are endless, if you’re still stuck for ideas, use a search engine to discover more ways to include it in your weekly rotation. My favourite brand is and always has been for the past 4 years @takeandeatau they have a huge range of soy free tempeh as well as traditional, I haven’t had something so close to what you enjoy in Indonesia as theirs. WIN a sample pack of @takeandeatau tempeh products 1. You must be following @takeandeatau @staplefoodau @plantstrongjans 2. Tag 3 of your soy or soy free buddies in comments 3. Share this photo and tag us in your stories 3 LUCKY winners, get tagging, get sharing xx

16.01.2022 PSA A message from Mum and I please read below. Firstly we want to thank all of you who have supported us throughout these tough times, and supported all of your favourite local restaurants and cafes, we can’t thank you enough.... We are over the moon for hospitality to finally be coming back, however as you have may noticed we are still only open for takeaway. Our little humble Shack, isn’t big enough to comply with social distancing regulations. Like many other companies, we have been under severe financial stress and we have lost a lot of money during these times. As a family and as a business we have decided we are going to take a break for six weeks and figure out where we are heading. That will mean our last day of trading will be 29 November this month. Come show your love and support for some of the last times this year before we take a break. There’s going to be many new exciting things happening in 2021 and we look forward to seeing where we are at then. Would love to see you within the next two weeks, and wish you well and a safe and Merry Christmas with your families. Let us grill and press you a toasty one last time for 2020. BIG LOVE, Deb & Jans
