19.01.2022 Babyshambles UK garage rockers Babyshambles will be making their very first venture out to Australia. Fronted by Macaulay Culkin's roomie and troublemaker Pete Doherty, the UK trio will hopefully make it past immigration to play a gig at the Palace before they head up to Byron Bay to play Splendour in the Grass. An event that is as much about celebrating local community as well as international artists, ABMF hosts a menagerie of artists, performers, musicians and other vendors. This year's 21st birthday lineup is a combination of established acts like UK folk outfit Turin Brakes and hometown hip-hop/funk legends Skunkhour as well as newcomers (including buskers) from a variety of different genres. 04.01.2022 Leaps and Bounds Music Festival The inaugural Leaps and Bounds Music Festival is set to celebrate Melbourne's epicentre of live music, the City of Yarra. Named after the iconic and beloved Paul Kelly song, the festival will run from Friday 5 to Sunday 21 July spread across 50 traditional venues from the Corner Hotel to the Empress, as well as special pop-up venues on Stanley Street and Gertrude Street. Each precinct within the City of Yarra will have a focus day. Richmond on ...July 7, Johnston St on July 12, Abbotsford on July 13, the backstreets of Fitzroy and Collingwood on July 14, Brunswick St on July 17, Smith St on July 18 and North Fitzroy and Clifton Hill on July 20. With the line up recently announced, these are the venues that will be hosting some of Melbourne’s best local live music: Abbotsford Convent, Bar Open, Barleycorn Hotel, Bendigo Hotel, Boite World Music Café, Corner Hotel, Empress Hotel, Eureka, Evelyn Hotel, First Floor, Fitzroy Bowling Club, Fox Hotel, Gasometer, Gertrude’s Brown Couch, Grace Darling Hotel, Great Britain Hotel, Grumpy's Green, Labour In Vain, Laundry, LuWow, Night Cat, Old Bar, PBS FM Studio 5, Rainbow Hotel, Rochester Hotel, Some Velvet Morning, Standard Hotel, The Vic Hotel, Tote Hotel, Uptown Jazz Café, Workers Club, Yah Yah's and Yarra Hotel. You can locate your tickets for each show through your preferred venue, as they will be independently running their own events. Mikeangelo & The Tin Star with The Black Eyed Susans will feature in a special matinee double at 1pm, Sunday July 7, together with various surprise guests and collaborations such as dream pop princess St Clare and western alternative country band, The Mightiest Of Guns.
