20.01.2022 The WA State government is calling on workers to take up a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get out across our State and take up important regional jobs. For many regional vegetable businesses, ensuring they can attract enough seasonal workers in the coming months is absolutely vital - so we're excited there are additional incentives to help workers get out there and fill those roles. Under the new State Government rebate scheme, eligible workers who move to the regions for... agricultural work will be able to claim up to $40 a night in accommodation rebates for up to 12 weeks up to a maximum total rebate of $3360. A travel allowance will be also made available to those relocating more than 100 kilometres from their usual place of residence. Workers will be able to claim $150 for travel to the Peel, South West, Great Southern, Wheatbelt, Mid West or Goldfields-Esperance regions, $350 for travel to the Gascoyne or Pilbara, and $500 for travel to the Kimberley. Mark McGowan is also calling on the Federal Government to do more to promote the sector and incentivise Western Australians to take up these opportunities. The rebate scheme will come into effect on 21 September - more information about submitting a claim can be found here: www.dpird.wa.gov.au/regional-workers-scheme Now's the time to work and wander out yonder and experience our unique State in a way you never have before. 04.01.2022 With the long weekend and school holidays on the horizon, we'd like to ask you a huge favour. If you're hitting the road and travelling between regions, please keep biosecurity front of mind. Simple things like brushing off shoes, clothing, camp equipment and cars and bagging food scraps before departure prevent the risk of pests or plant and animal diseases being transferred from one place to another. You'll be safeguarding our growers and most importantly, your food supply.
