21.01.2022 There is always value and meaning to be found. At the start of things, during, but definitely at the end of things. Being able to see it though? That is where your growth and value in yourself shows itself.
18.01.2022 Might sound weird coming from a guy who trains 6 days a week, spent the last 20 years in a gym and helps people improve their health in many ways, with exercise being one. But... You can't out train a feeling of lack in your sense of self... You can't out train sleeping patterns that don't let you recover...... You can't out train a gut that won't absorb what you put in... You can't out train a diet that doesn't support your health... You can't out train a body that breaks down if you don't treat it well... Exercise is what makes your life better, not what gives it meaning. 17.01.2022 There is only one person you are ever competing with, and the truth of that statement is hard to ignore when considering who produces most of the negative self talk we all experience. You are your worst enemy, and until you have taken the measure of that part of yourself and remembered that it is a useful and valuable part of you that can make you a greater whole... it is a cutthroat fight to even maintain balance, let alone come out integrated and victorious.
17.01.2022 The language we use can sometimes be what keeps us at odds with others, even with ourselves. Being clear about what you mean and intend with words, understanding what others mean, can mean you are closer together than we may realise. Understanding self, and how we describe our self to ourselves, can bring us closer to that truer sense of us, too.

After trying to find ways around or through them, reasons to ignore them, eventually i came to the truth of things. That sometimes, we just have to sit with it. To feel what needs to be felt. And give it time. To make sense of it. To find the truth in it, so we can learn what we need to learn. Forcing it, trying to shortcut it, or burying it, won't help with that.... The work takes time. 16.01.2022 Some weeks ago, I didn't tell the truth. Not for lying, but simply for not speaking my truth. And it sat with me. For days. All for not being who I know I am in a single moment. Even though no one saw I didn't speak truth, someone still knew. Me. I knew. ... I knew I acted as less than I am. And I let myself know about it. I betrayed who I know I am. And it was painful. Which is what sat with me, why it sat with me. The pain of judgement for actions that weren't me. For being less than I am. Don't betray who you are if you want to be all you can be. 16.01.2022 The necessity of reflecting and learning something about why things didn't work out the way we intended is essential to doing something better next time. If we simply dwell on that fact the it didn't work out exactly perfectly, we keep ourselves stuck in that losing mentality.
14.01.2022 Feeling trapped within your own self can create a sense of unease, if not anxiety or depression, that puts you at odds with the world around you. Feeling the need to burst out of your own self, but unable to due to the external pressure to stay held within, to not rock the boat. Not knowing yourself is one thing, and can lead to all sorts of angst riddled depths. To know something of yourself and be lost within your own life? That's a different animal altogether.
14.01.2022 That smile isn't because I'm enjoying the box jumps I was doing in that moment. Anyone who does them knows that they just aren't really something to smile about. I'm smiling because I know that what I'm doing there is contributing to something greater. Rarely about right or wrong, more about there being a process at all, one that serves to allow you to have a conversation with yourself about cost and consequences and which ones you're prepared to accept.

But it can also leave us oblivious to the world around us, the opportunities beyond a single minded path can offer, the all or nothing outcome mindset that can lead to stressed and limited self worth. Both have value, so is there a balance?
11.01.2022 The idea that you are limited by your circumstances and genetics is exactly that: a limitation. What if you could be more than what your DNA says you are? After all, that is simply the coding that determines your physiological makeup. Your consciousness and your sense of You come from somewhere different, somewhere much harder to define. If those come from somewhere different, couldn't the value of you and your life come from somewhere beyond your genetics and circumstances?
11.01.2022 Vulnerability can be daunting to consider, let alone act on. Telling your story, revealing details about who you really are, your flaws, mistakes, misgivings, fears, doubts, feelings. It's scary to admit to another person, trusting them to not sit in judgement. But you don't ever really start there. You start with yourself. You start with self awareness.... You start by admitting that maybe you aren't who you want to believe you are, who you wish you were. You start by recognising that this is okay. You start by acknowledging that if you don't know what you are working with, then nothing can change because it's all based on falsehood and ego and external validation. Vulnerability with yourself, feeling how you feel about yourself, not judging how things are in that space, is where it starts. You may not be perfect, literally no one is. But we can be better. If you want to be. If you want to be better, be more, then start with the truth about yourself. If you don't know who you are on some level, then you don't know what to work on, let alone where you can really go. Be vulnerable with you. 10.01.2022 It's only when we give others power over us that they then have the ability to reject and exile us. Even then, we only give them that power in the hopes that they will accept and welcome us. In doing so, we could infer that maybe we don't accept and welcome ourselves, and need others to do that for us. Accepting ourselves, who we were, are and will be, means we will always have ourselves, no matter the circumstances with others and their feelings towards us.... 09.01.2022 Cognitive dissonance is the very unique human ability to believe two conflicting things at the same time. We do this when we are aware of some information, but hold beliefs that conflict with it and would rather discredit the information than adjust our beliefs to this new information. Unfortunately, you are as smart as yourself, so we'll be able to think of any number of reasons to justify and rationalise to make sense of why that information doesn't apply to us, why we don'...t need to pay attention to it. And the smarter we are, the more believable, intelligent and rational those excuses are that allow us to continue to ignore the thing we know is true, but runs counter to the beliefs we hold with our ego. And worse, we start using confirmation bias to find information that suits out version of things and doubles down on ignoring what we know is true, even if we don't want to admit it... Why do you believe what you believe? Is it serving you? Is it true? 06.01.2022 I used to train so my ego could compete with those around me. Then, I trained to compete with the ego of who I used to be. Now, I train to let go of ego. To find value in myself and the feeling it gives me, regardless of what others do or what the numbers say. More me and my standards that serve me, less measuring sticks entirely outside of me... If you think you are lucky, your perceptions will look for opportunities to prove you are lucky. If you think you are scared, you will look for opportunities to validate being scared.
