21.01.2022 EPISODE #14 We chased down Australian Marathoner Milly Clark for today’s show. Fortunately Mark didn’t have to literally chase her down, otherwise the interview... definitely wouldn’t have taken place. Milly is lightning fast over 42.2kms and has recently qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with PB at the Gold Coast Marathon, finishing in 2:28! Inspired by her Mother and Aunt who were also elite athletes, Milly chat’s to Mark about running, her work as a dietitian, and potentially being selected for another Olympic campaign. We also take questions from members of Mark’s local running club, the Perth Run Collective, a free group running initiative supported by Lululemon in Perth, Western Australia. ‘PRC’ meet Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings, and all running levels are welcome. More information can be found on the Facebook group page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/perthruncollective/ Thanks for listening and we would love for you to subscribe so you don't miss any episodes! 20.01.2022 A master class in technique from another talented WA Volleyball state athlete. How high is your vertical jump?

20.01.2022 EPISODE #24 Today’s guest is Ben Haines - PhD, who talks to Mark about the importance of setting up a sporting academy the right way to enable your athletes to ...flourish. Ben gives us an overview of how to do so from his extensive academy experience in Australia and around the world, and his proven track record of developing younger athletes into powerhouses of their sport. Editors pick: Ben touches on building relationships both up and down the hierarchy of a sport to bring cohesion through the athlete development process from a physical stand-point, which enables the coaches to use best practices within the budgetary constraints. A kind of king-maker in Australian sport, having produced a handful of the top AFL picks in recent years, Ben was kind enough to spare his time to chat to us about his career and experiences in the sports science industry. #strengthandconditioning #sportsscience #AFL To listen to this episode click on the links below https://omny.fm/shows/tswspodcast/ben-haines https://open.spotify.com/episode/42jOVkqkPpp6Pxe7ZJplnY https://podcasts.apple.com//dr-ben-haines-on/id1455290126

15.01.2022 Servite College Run club attacking the Yo-yo intermittent recovery test 1 this morning. A great effort from all the student this morning The Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 1 test was developed to measure an athlete’s ability to repeatedly perform high-intensity aerobic work. It has been shown to be a valid and reliable predictor of high-intensity aerobic capacity and VO2 max amongst athletes from various sports and competition-levels. The test is comprise...d of 91 shuttles and can last up to approximately 29-minutes; however, it is very unlikely somebody will complete it. Scores can be presented in three ways: 1) total distance (meters); 2) level achieved; or 3) VO2 max. Total distance is much simpler to understand and calculate, whereas level achieved is more complex as the test begins at level 5 and then skips to level 9 at the beginning. See more

06.01.2022 Hi All, I’ve created this for people that would like to support my journey, which is currently hosting/recording/producing the Train Smarter with Science podcast. Sports science/Strength and conditioning has always been a passion of mine and I hope I can keep creating podcasts that motivate, educate and inspire people to be the best they can be in their given profession. As the podcasts are free for everyone to listen to I don't earn an income from them. Hopefully down the tr...ack if our subscribers continue to rise we may able to get advertisers but for the time being its purely funded on passion. Unfortunately it takes me quite a long time to record, produce and edit and there is also the expense of equipment, software, Podcast Hosting Sites etc. So if anyone is in a position to contribute in any way, as little as $1 it will be truly and deeply appreciated! Thank you Mark
