24.01.2022 I've just watched the 1977 Australian Grand Prix - won by Warwick Brown, with specialist comments from the legendary Frank Gardner, which had to be heard to be believed. During a pit stop for Kevin Bartlett Frank says: "There's little point looking down the injection trumpets for an engine problem, when what you really need is a small, spastic dwarf to climb up the exhaust pipe and tell the crew to shut it down" ... clearly political correctness was not in vogue in sports commentary 40 years ago. Another quote was when Dave Powell's Matich was steaming away mid-race "sadly when the engine starts to overheat there's nothing that can be done ... there is no penicillin for a racing car"

23.01.2022 It feels like yesterday. A snippet of my recordings from the 1989 Italian GP at Monza, taken during the Sunday morning warm up. It might be almost 30 years ago but the sound is still fantastic and will never leave me.

22.01.2022 Keke ... was there anyone cooler than the 'Flying Fin' way back in 1984? Nobody has ever worn a yellow race suit better, even at a dusty and stinking hot Calder Park. Could drive a bit too !!!

21.01.2022 A blast from the past in an era when I was doing sponsorship and commercial work for Tasman Motorsport, which I actually named back in the day ... always loved the orange base of the then Jon Matthews managed, Greg & Kevin Murphy owned team. Shame it didn't last.

14.01.2022 A rare find. This commemorative, limited edition and numbered Japanese porcelain piece was given to me by my late mum, Helen for Christmas many years ago. Reflecting on the final career Formula 1 Grand Prix race victory of Ayrton Senna at Adelaide in 1993 and also the city and event itself. I’ve not seen one of these anywhere but they must surely exist.

13.01.2022 This is pure gold. Genuine oversteer and sheer driving bravado from Warwick Brown's final lap of the 1977 Australian Grand Prix at Oran Park, which he won in his Lola T430 "flying bracket" Racing Team VDS F5000. Enjoy.

13.01.2022 John Bowe, complete with his trademark crouched driving position, at Calder Park in 1984 ... the year he clinched his first CAMS Gold Star. Only 35 years ago !!!

10.01.2022 Besco ... besco find that right rear wheel that came off after heavy contact with John Bowe and the T1 Armco at Sandown Park in 1982. This is Charlie O'Brien's RT4 coming home on a flat bed truck ... driver most unhappy.

09.01.2022 The Kaditcha FM83 was a very attractive Formula Pacific machine, but sadly it just wan't up to the job against the ubiquitous Ralt RT4s. Ian Bland, Adelaide International Raceway (AIR), 1983 CAMS Gold Star Round 1.

06.01.2022 It seems so long ago, but 20 years can go by in the blink of an eye. A HUGE congrats to Jason 'Brighty' Bright on a stellar driving career by a driver who is l...iving proof that the dream can become a reality if you work hard, keep believing and remain focused and committed. Those early days of proving the doubters wrong - both in Australia and the USA - will live with me forever, as will the Britek Motorsport days when we tried to take on the big boys as a fully self-sufficient operation ... many would never be so bold. You're still the only Australian to have won the Australian Formula Ford, CAMS Gold Star (Formula Holden) and Bathurst 1000 triple, and to experience what you have in so many diverse categories is living proof of your capabilities and on track success. If your post racing business success can match your on track driving record then I am sure you will be in for one hell of a ride. Thanks for the memories.
