His love and passion for the game and the Veneto Club will be fondly remembered by many. A lovely piece piece has been written by Antony Giacomin - I encourage you to read his beautifully penned obituary to Luciano. FC Bulleen Lions would not have evolved to the what we are today without the passion and contributions from Luciano and many others

Unfortunately,... due to Covid-19 we were not able to go to Italy this year...fingers crossed that next year the world is in better place so we can go to Italy again. 11.01.2022 The foundation members are a very important group of members of our club. Over the last few decades we have seen the sad passing of many, and currently we have just over 150 still with us, ranging in age from 90+ to the youngest (who happens to be our current President) of just over 60 years. The Veneto Club Bulleen is the second home for many and its their main place of connecting with friends and paesani. We know that many are missing coming to the VC, and we miss them t...oo and are concerned for their wellbeing. So today we started a campaign to call all of our foundation & life members to check in with them. Speaking in a mix of Italian, Veneto and English Marina, Julie Magaton Renata Rostolis Sonya Velo and Fabio hit the phones to have a chat asking how they are, encouraging them to stay connected family and friends over the phone, and wishing all the fathers (an early) Happy Fathers Day. The reaction was overwhelmingly heart-warming from the foundation & life members, and for the five callers such a rewarding and emotional day of connecting with these members. 09.01.2022 On behalf of Sonya Velo and the many other great people associated with the Veneto Club, both in the past and the present, I am pleased to share my words on Luc...iano Fioravanti, on what he meant to me, which I'm sure also represents what he meant to the many other people who crossed paths with him... LUCIANO FIORAVANTI: To my many friends who knew and loved Luciano Fioravanti, I have some sad news (if you dont already know). Luciano is no longer with us, having passed away late yesterday from a heartattack, aged 83. Luciano came to the Veneto Club to coach the Under 15s in 1986 and I was lucky enough to be part of this team. His impact was instant and enormous. Following his arrival, I literally craved for every training session and every match to arrive, driven by both love for soccer and love for Luciano, for playing under him was an absolute delight. I believe many of my teammates felt the same, which helps to explain why we rarely lost! The way he treated players, parents, opponents, referees and fans was exemplary. He epitomised what it meant to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. For he was a gentleman. His love and passion for the game, as well as life itself, was infectious. The impact people can have on you as a teenager can be profound and Lucianos on me certainly was. After coaching our first couple of competitive matches, the nickname he gave me was maniaco (take off the o and you have translated the word to English). I thrived on and fed off that nickname like you would not believe - I wanted to attack the ball even harder every time I heard him say it! At the start of 1988, I quit soccer to focus on Year 12. That lasted 2 weeks, for one brief phone call from Luciano turned it around. He not only told me he wanted me to play again, but that I could skip training if I needed to study. Subsequently, I did not miss one training session (or match) and still did OK in Year 12 playing soccer helped! When I told my sister earlier today that Luciano had passed away, the first thing she said was "oh, he loved you". The truth is, Luciano seemed to love everyone and everyone seemed to love Luciano. We loved many of his quotes: - No look for petrol is what he repeatedly said to players who kept their head down. Luciano always wanted his players to look up, so they could see what was around them on the pitch. - What a zombo which was directed to the less gifted players or for those moments in every match when a player makes a calamitous mistake! - Too slow for soccer: if you happened to lack pace. Luciano called it as he saw it and he was invariably spot on!! As many know, Luciano moved to the Gold Coast many years ago. So when I was up there for a holiday in 2015, I decided I must track him down and catch up with him, for it had been about 20 years! That catch up was one of the best afternoons I have had in recent years. He remembered everything from the old days, including a big mistake I made in a vital match! It was a pleasure knowing you Luciano. I loved you and I know many others did too. You were a soccer legend to many in Melbourne. Rest in Peace Grande Campione. [NOTE: These photos range from 1986 to 2015. If anyone else has photos of Luciano, I would appreciate them so much...]

08.01.2022 Veneto Club Bulleen bocce courts are open for social games. Please make sure you sign in at the courts where the ticket box is located. You can also pick up a pamphlet in English or Italian on the conditions of play with the current restrictions. Whilst we wont be starting the Wednesday night comps or the #vcbocce for the remainder of the 2020 year the courts are open for social games - doubles per court. it's not mandatory - BUT if you are in a vulnerable category a face-mask is always an added precaution that we would encourage. Welcome back bocce to the Veneto Club !!!

After almost 28 years (to the day) at the Furlan Club , the 2.6 tonne monument made its way from Thornbury to Bulleen.
