21.01.2022 TOM'S TOP 5 VENICE TUNES 3. BURNING One of my first tunes I wrote w/ Ché Smith collaboratively, Burning turned into an amazing opening track. I think what makes this song so good is the brilliant production by Brock Weston - the ending is enormous. No secret I definitely borrowed some Violent Soho vibes heavily, but I'm proud of how it turned out.

16.01.2022 TOM'S TOP 5 VENICE TUNES (contd) 4. SOMEBODY HATES ME Ever the diplomat, it was by group consensus that '(An Open Door May) Tempt A Saint' was the first single from our debut album. But if I had made the call myself, this would have been it. Easily has one of my favourite starting chord progressions I've written - I can distinctly remember penning it on my acoustic guitar one afternoon in Roma and realising I was onto something.... I've made no secret about how much I disliked the final product of our debut album - rushed production, ordinary mix and some primitive songwriting on our part. But the final mix on this song was so great, it almost makes up for the rest of it. The message is pretty self-explanatory - it is acknowledging the fact that not everyone will like you in life, and that's ok. Stay tuned this arvo for #3! See more

12.01.2022 TOM'S TOP 5 VENICE TUNES 2. NOV 2 OK, we're getting down to it now. This might be many people's favourite, and there's a fair argument for this. I was amazed at how many sections I was able to cram into this one song. Also featured a very clear (fictional) narrative that made for compelling listening I felt. Nov 2 was the first tune we did with Brock Weston, and was definitely the first track where I was truly happy with the sound and mix we'd hoped to create.... We managed to squeeze this into the 4ZZZ Hot 100 last year, which was a great honour. Also, if you check out the clip by The Mustard Mix, you'll see a very bushy Che in his first appearance as a Venetian! Number one coming up this arvo! See more
