25.01.2022 RTA Newsroom - Notice periods for ending a tenancy

21.01.2022 It's Friday Food Day - Scones with Jam & Cream! This basic sones recipe uses only three ingredients which allows for a quick and easy delicious recipe for morning tea wherever you may be! Ingredients:... Basic scone 2 1/2 cup self-raising flour 60 gram cold butter, chopped 3/4 cup cold milk, plus extra to glaze jam or marmalade, to serve whipped cream, to serve Method: Basic scone 1 Preheat oven to 200C (180C fan-forced). Grease and line a baking tray with baking paper. Sift into a large bowl. Rub in butter to make fine crumbs. 2 Make a well in centre; add milk. Using a round-bladed knife, cut through mixture until it forms a soft dough, adding 1-2 tablespoons more milk if needed. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead briefly until smooth, then shape into a 2cm-thick round. 3 Using a 5.5cm cutter dipped into flour, cut round from dough. Place scones side by side on prepared tray. Brush tops with extra milk to glaze. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden and well risen. Serve scones with jam and cream. Notes: Make as many scones from the first cutting as you can. Scones from subsequent rollings will be a little tougher and slightly misshapen. For best results, make on the day of serving. Enjoy!

19.01.2022 RTA Newsroom - Open houses and viewings. An open house may occur when a property is put up for sale, or rent, and prospective buyers or tenants view the property during a specific advertised period. An open house can only be held if the tenant agrees in writing.... Some tenants may agree to an open house to avoid multiple individual entries. Photos used to market the property (e.g. on the ‘for sale/rent’ signs or the internet) should not show the tenant’s possession unless they agree in writing. Open house entry rules If the tenant agrees to an open house, the property manager/owner should negotiate a suitable time. The property manager/owner should try to minimise any disruption to the tenant's quiet enjoyment of the property. Entry must be at a reasonable time and, unless the tenant agrees, must not be on: Sundays or public holidays any other day before 8am or after 6pm The property manager/owner must also give the tenant an Entry notice (Form 9) giving at least 24 hours’ notice of the open house. A reasonable time must have passed before another open house can be held. Other viewings For all other viewings, an entry notice must be given for each entry. Entry must be at a reasonable time and, unless the tenant agrees, must not be on Sundays or public holidays, or any other day before 8am or after 6pm.

02.01.2022 I'ts Friday Food Day - Rustic Chicken with Garlic Gravy is on the menu this weekend. A delicious one-pan meal that is delicious served with mashed potatoes, rice or pasta, to make the most of the delicious gravy. ... PREP TIME: 15 mins COOK TIME: 30 mins TOTAL TIME: 45 mins SERVINGS: 6 People INGREDIENTS: 2 Tbsp cooking oil 6 pieces skin-on/bone-in chicken thighs Salt and freshly-ground black pepper 20 cloves garlic separated and peeled (2 full heads) 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour 3/4 cup dry white wine 1 cup chicken broth 1 1/4 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or about 3/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves) 2 Tbsp butter INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Heat the oven to 400 F (205C) with rack in center of oven. 2. In a oven-safe Dutch oven or oven-safe skillet with a lid, heat the oil over medium high heat. Dry the chicken pieces well by patting them with a paper towel. Sprinkle the chicken pieces with a bit of salt and the pepper. Cook the chicken until well browned, turning regularly, for about 8 minutes in all then remove chicken to a plate. You can remove some of the fat in the pan if you have lots, but do leave enough to cook the garlic in the next step. 3. Reduce the heat to medium, add the garlic, and cook, stirring regularly, until it is starting to brown, about 3 minutes. Sprinkle the flour over the garlic and stir until combined. Return the chicken to the pot, cover, and bake for 15 minutes in the pre-heated 400 oven. (If you pot or skillet doesn't have a lid, you can tightly cover the top with tin-foil instead.) 4. Remove the pot from the oven and put it on a burner. Be careful not to touch the hot pot! Remove the chicken pieces from the pot to a clean plate. Over medium-high heat, whisk in the wine and simmer for 1 minute. Whisk in the broth, thyme and a bit more salt and pepper, then reduce heat and simmer, stirring regularly, until sauce thickens. Turn the heat off and stir in the butter. Taste sauce and add more salt and pepper, if it needs it. Add the chicken back to the pot to re-warm with the sauce. Serve spooned over mashed potatoes, rice or pasta. Enjoy!
