25.01.2022 This week, the Unit Spotlight team decided that it was time to shake things up a little. Rather than just the one unit, we have a collection of units from across the state as a celebration of our triumphant return to face to face Scouting. We send our best wishes to all those units who are finally able to get back together. If you have any specific questions about getting back to in-person Scouting safely, send us an email ([email protected]) or message us on Faceb...ook or Instagram. It's so good to be back, so let's keep up the good work to make sure that we can continue to meet face to face. Wear a mask, wash your hands and keep 1.5 metres distance between yourself and others. Keep sending us your photos and stories, we love to see what you've been up to and it helps other units find new ideas for their programs. ~~ Has your unit been up to anything interesting? Contact us via Facebook or Instagram for a chance to be featured in next week's Unit Spotlight #MaxOutAsAVenturerScout #venturersvictoria #lookwide

25.01.2022 This week’s BADGE OF THE WEEK is Service!! This week, Pete from Auburn Venturers is sharing his story. I am a Venturer at Auburn Venturers in the Boroondara district. Throughout Metropolitan lockdown, I decided I wanted to do something to work towards badge work, and after brainstorming ideas I chose to mow the lawn at my Scout hall on a regular basis with the goal to restore the quality of the lawn! After mowing it 13 times throughout the course of lockdown, it is where I ...want it to be! Now I can use the time towards badge work, which I hope to eventually use towards my QS award in 2021. Service aims to Introduce Venturers to the needs of people in the community and to ways in which some of these are met. This is normally carried out in 10 hours of service to the community or Scouting movement. Activities could be anything from volunteering at a community space or event, to working on a section camp. In Our New Program, this translates to multiple of the Special Interest Areas. To learn more about the Service badge and other badges visit: https://scoutsvictoria.com.au/age-sections-adults/venturers/ Do you have an interesting badge work story that you’d like to share? If so, we’d love to hear from you!! Reach out to us over Instagram DM or Facebook Messenger. #MaxOutAsAVenturerScout #lookwide #venturersvictoria #virtualventuring

22.01.2022 Beginner’s Guide to New Program Rovers. Great for older Venturers soon to head to Rovers and the New Program. This workshop will be going through the entire New Program from start to finish! It will include links to resources, top tips from Rovers that have been on the New Program for 4 years, answers to FAQs, and much more. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you have. This workshop will be more in depth than any other one run before. So please ensure your Unit is represented as this is the best time to ask your questions.

13.01.2022 The unit buddy system closes in 1 WEEKS TIME. Make sure your unit signs up before the 30/06. After which we will match up units! Link: https://forms.gle/qDuMCWBnFYjF4tHv5 Information on the unit buddy system: ... The Unit Buddy System is designed to help units connect with other units from both near and far, to share ideas, activities and interests. Units that sign up will be grouped with 1 or 2 other units. Where possible Units that share a common interest will be grouped together to assist Venturers in meeting like-minded Units. The more information your unit provides the more individualised your units groupings will be. Some of the other benefits of the Unit Buddy System include: - Meeting other units, - gaining access to other units’ facilities and experience, - increasing connections between regional and metro units, - and encouraging Units to Look Wide.

05.01.2022 For the 2020 Scouts Victoria ARAP, we would like to showcase youth members from across the State via video. Want to star in the ARAP? Simply film yourself answering one or more of these questions and then send it to [email protected] Questions: What Scout Group are you from? What was your favourite activity with your unit this year?... Which Scout Quest event did you like the most and why? What are you looking forward to doing most when restrictions are lifted? Would you like to say anything to your Leaders? Tips for filming: Wear your shirt and scarf. (With no jumpers underneath please!) Use your phone in landscape mode. Speak loudly and clearly. Try not to have noise in the background. Pause between answering each question. Want to participate but don’t want to speak? Take a photo of yourself (in landscape and wearing uniform) with a sign that says Thank you Leaders or something similar and send it through!
