The ...care from the old ladies to the younger women, the deliberate spaciousness from the rest of the tribe, the quiet time alone to rest and the break from domestic duties for three days - followed by a final cleansing ritual in the river (every single month) - not only sounded heavenly, it sounded extremely wise. Until a womans cycle is recognised completely in our working and schooling patterns, the intrinsic need of a woman to rest, reflect and go within during her period, is being ignored.
