22.01.2022 The ATO have announced they will be investigating individuals looking to take advantage of the Covid-19 early superannuation access scheme for the express purpose of gaining a tax benefit. Scenarios which are now on the ATO's radar include artificially arranging affairs to meet eligibility criteria, withdrawing superannuation then recontributing to claim a tax deduction and making a contribution to claim a tax deduction before withdrawing that amount. 17.01.2022 The government has announced that they will be extending the $150,000 instant asset write-off for small businesses to 31 December 2020. Australian businesses with a turnover of under $500 million will continue to be able to immediately write-off plant, equipment and vehicles with a cost of up to $150,000 excluding GST. Passenger vehicles are limited to a maximum write-off of $57,581.
