25.01.2022 As a business we are pretty thrilled to be part of this campaign. Regional growth and economic stability starts small and it starts with us. Remember in the lead up to Christmas, there are some pretty cool Macedon Ranges, retailers, experiences and special treats not to mention wineries. Do you know what your regional streets offer? While it's not always possibly it is worth trying to support local where you can see you at tomorrow from 5.30am for a cup of regionally roasted Moto Bean Coffee Roasters, Malmsbury coffee.

24.01.2022 Today is a great day people, only 99 days until one of the most celebrated days of the year It’s been six months since change was forced upon all of us and we’ve nailed it and what great news about the easing of restrictions, YAY. I am stoked to be surrounded by such amazing customers and staff. The way in which we have all adjusted and morphed to adapt with the constant change should be celebrated.... Please recognise the shift back to what once was, represents some immediate challenges for us, which I am sure you can all appreciate. For the time being we will not be making any plans for indoor, sit down dining. Not just yet and not this week anyway! What we will, however, continue to provide is; Great coffee, ethically sourced and roasted from small local family business Moto Bean Freshly made Smoothies and Juices along with other cold drinks Great breakfast, brunch and lunch on the run options so you can picnic with your children, chill with a book or chat with loved ones while making the most of these glorious spring days A small and increasing range of local cheese, prepackaged heat and serve delicious meals AND new treats Bread, Milk and Eggs along with our weekly produce boxes every Thursday Thanks as always, you’re kindness and support of us and our town is amazing xx PS. Don’t forget, 99 days people, 99 days!

Changes a plenty have been born from Covid and we are excited to finally share our retail space with you all. In the little pocket of the cafe by the fire you will find many treasures, including these new acquisitions from Gracious Minds, Australian owned and designed. 15.01.2022 Farewell and Good Luck to this guy, Daz. A short tale of the last 18 months After 35 years as a fitter welder, this guy had reached burn out! His sparkle was lost, his feet heavy and his mind compromised. ... One afternoon I received a call from Daz with one simple question.. Can I come work at the cafe for a while? Um sure, I answered, believing it was just temporary. He’d not long lost his father, turned 50, struggling privately, it was obvious he needed change. At the time I remember thinking, shit!, not confident either of us knew how this would work, we had to figure this out as we went along. In his first week, Daz experienced the adrenaline that comes with a full cafe, learnt how to bake muffins, carrot cakes, made ghee and spent his evenings dreaming of poaching eggs. At the end of week one and over a beer confessing - "I though this would be easy, I was so wrong. As a romantic partnership we were blessed to have survived the often long 18 months, although at times it was touch and go. When you work, live and play together, it can be rough, but it is also very beautiful. Reflecting on his 500 odd Verdure days, Daz wants to share the following; I want people to know "if they reach burnout have the courage to make a change, change has an ability to reset the imbalance. I really am an intolerant person, despite my best efforts not to be, sorry. "I will miss the endless coffee, my favourite customers (you know who you are) and the team environment, everyone at Verdure performs their role so well, even if they didn’t appreciate my jokes". Although DP Welding Services (give him a follow on Instagram :)) was born from covid and financial family necessity, he is happy to be enjoying his craft once again the bonus bit of wonderful to come from all this is, we recruited Heather the Honey Bee (pictured with Daz), her story in the coming weeks. Daz, the team and I wish you the VERY best of luck on this new venture, go be amazing doing what you enjoy. xx

12.01.2022 I think one of the best things about a salad is, there are no rules and such enormous scope to be somewhat playful. The fact is salads are almost always, quick, easy and nutritious, with preparation of key ingredients taking the most time. Pictured below is our rainbow salad, loaded with blackened chicken and fresh mango, available on our current summer menu when dining in.

12.01.2022 This is Neisha Breen, a creative soulful woman, qualified chef, pastry chef, turned photographer, based in the Yarra Valley. Neisha is what I refer to as, an adventure seeking, memory maker, committed to her family. Following the birth of her first child Neisha yearned for a professional camera to capture and document the memories of her growing family, memories to be shared and enjoyed for life. Neisha received her first DSLR camera as a gift from her husband, Alex 10 year...s ago. BUT for almost 5 years Neisha and her camera fought, Neisha always won that argument simply by placing the camera in the cupboard Eventually Neisha’s commitment, persistence, discipline and determination paid off. My camera provides a creative outlet, full of adventure, exploration and beautiful moments, pair this with a 4x4 in Australia and the adventure is endless In between photography, Neisha works a works a full time job, is a hands on mum of two, wife and human committed to keeping her indoor plants alive! Pre-covid life, her perfect day is one full of adventure and exploration with camera in hand. We are now taking orders for the current collection available at Verdure. Be sure to get your orders in before November 2 to secure a pre-Christmas delivery!

11.01.2022 I often find myself inspired and somewhat curious about many of the humans in our community. Over the past few years I've observed with admiration, Sarah Azjner. Sarah runs Dreaming Goat Dairy, she is a powerhouse, a doer, a mum and traded a legal career for a life on the farm. The Macedon Ranges family farm of 50 acres and 20 milking goats, produces some wonderful small batch goats milk products including; halloumi, chevre, marinated fetta, pressed chevre, yoghurt and lane.... If you value delicious cheese, made with love, be sure to collect some when you’re next in the cafe or visit one of the many local farmers markets. Pictured here is the gorgeous Sarah, prior to the birth of youngest daughter, Meta.

10.01.2022 TODAY IS A BRIGHT AND HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY DAY to Miss Olivia Today this little ray of sunshine turns 21, so I thought it fitting we should all play a little game If you frequent Verdure, chances are Olivia knows your name and/or what you drink, BUT, how well, do you know her?... Of the following 21 fun facts there is one big lie and one little lie, what are they? 1. Soy cappuccino is her go to caffeine drink 2. Olivia loves to travel, her next destination is Iceland or Africa 3. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is quite possibly her biggest weakness 4. If loaded Nacho’s were a male human, she’d be married 5. We’re often disturbed by her random Netflix suggestions, like #dontfuckwithcats but we equally enjoy the suggestion 6. Olivia takes photographs just for fun and is actually quite good at it 7. While her collection of leather bags is rather obscene 8. It can only be outdone by her collection of her shoes 9. Her maternal skills are growing, a lot, as she nurtures her nursery of bedroom plants 10. This girl never throws shoes out, but will re-home them if a human is worthy 11. Espresso martini’s are the best, no they’re good, no they’re not her friend... anymore! 12. If you are a small batch designer, hash tag this girl, she’ll drive sales and influence anyone she can 13. Her dog passion is her bestie 14. She believes onions and believes they are the back bone to any good meal 15. If she doesn’t refer to you as your real name, you know she really likes you 16. Her parents, Jenny and Steve, owned a pig farm in Crookwell before relocating to the local area 17. If there is ever a choice; she will choose cleaning toilets over the cleaning the juicer, any day of the week 18. Olivia freakin loves country music so much so we’ve had to ban it at the cafe 19. She doesn’t do snap chat face pics, just an eye forehead 20. Olivia has a brother 21. Her middle name is Grace Olivia, have an amazing day, at work today. looking forward to you being able to celebrate this milestone on the flip side.

09.01.2022 Do you have an espresso machine at home or are you considering the investment? If so this is a must read for anyone wanting to maximise their investment. How do you set up your home espresso machine? It should be easy right?... And OF COURSE you know ‘your' brew rules? Fundamentally the success of your home machine all depends on how much time you’re prepared to invest in achieving the best possible outcome. Now for my amazing sales pitch... "Great coffee and Milk are essential components and luckily Verdure stock them both moving on now... This guy Lachy (pictured) is one half of the husband and wife duo that are Moto Bean. Lovers of making and drinking awesome coffee, their passion for business is contagious and I am so thrilled to have them as part of the Verdure family. Check out the link, https://.youtu.be/qxyHkVH4EcQ on how to set up your espresso machine at home and good luck.

06.01.2022 If you only read this paragraph here is the important info; Aluminium is infinitely recyclable and this guy pictured, Dominic Goldsworthy is the creator of Wallaby Water. Dominic is local to Romsey and his water in a can locally sourced is great for parties (when we can), camping trips (as permitted) or just a good source of hydration anyplace, anytime. This my friends is Dominic, the creative, tacticle, brain behind Wallaby Water. Essentially this is Water with consciou...sness. Dominic was raised in a household where environmental consciousness was part of his daily life; worm farms, composting, growing veggies, seperating the recycling and always carrying a reusable bottle was instilled from a young age. In 2017, this software / tech nerd landed a phenomenal career opportunity that saw him relocate to New York. During this period, Dominic became acutely aware and concerned by the vast amount of packaging waste. After a little research it was clear that single plastic water bottle usage is one of the biggest waste offenders. Dive a little deeper into his research and you’ll understand aluminium is infinitely recyclable. Hence the product concept ‘water in a can’ was developed and now known as, Wallaby Water. Wallaby Water is the tip of what’s to come. I think I’m allowed to share that the next product to roll from the production line is the aluminium water filled bottle, along with a range of reusable life long bottles. BUT THERE IS A BONUS LOVE STORY ATTACHED While I don’t want to overshadow the awesomeness that is ‘Wallaby Water’ it is a super sweet tale. The career move ‘was’ amazing, but it came to an end with Visa complication, meaning Dominic had to depart America. This meant packing up his apartment in New York and travelling his way home to Australia. Unbeknownst to Dominic and for the last twelve months this super cool, beautiful, American, career woman, Candace, resided in the same apartment building. To cut a long story short they chatted, he was leaving that week, he asked her on a date and she flew to Australia on a hunch and to have that date. Candace, travelled to Australia from New York in 2019, however Covid has meant she has remained here in Aus, for now at least. Candace has a gig as a farm hand, she’s made great mates, taped more boxes than she can recall, bottled more water than she cares to remember BUT Candace has become part of an Aussie family. Candace and her take a chance kinda attitude is an inspiration and anyone, who tells you love stories arent real is lying. Good humans, create good karma and produce amazing things..! Thanks for allowing us to share this story x #wallabywater @wallabywater Dominic Goldsworthy Candace MacPherson

04.01.2022 When you think there is nothing left in the tank, dig a little deeper, there’s a little more there, you got this!
