22.01.2022 Townsville Youth Councillor's Abi and Kassidy had the honour of meeting the ABC Board at the Mayoral Forecourt to speak all things youth. It was a great opportu...nity for them to build their confidence in networking and understand the importance of young people raising their voices within the media. The conversations highlighted the importance of activating positive youth conversations which are lead and facilitated by our Townsville Young People. In particular their converstaion with the amazing ABC Chair, Ita Buttrose AO OBE who shared interesting youth mental health data recently published by Mission Australia on the Seven year youth mental health report 2012-2018 (link below). Thank you for giving Townsville Youth Council the space and opportunity to advocate for Townsville youth. https://www.missionaustralia.com.au//1318-can-we-talk/file

16.01.2022 West End, Hyde Park and Hermit Park residents have you received this calling card in your letterbox? Biosecurity Queensland is urging residents to check their... properties and report bees, nests or swarms to 13 25 23 following a new discovery of Asian honey bee wings near the Port of Townsville. A nest of these feral bees carrying varroa mites was destroyed at the port earlier this year. Varroa mites could significantly damage the Australian bee industry and agricultural sector, disrupting honey production and pollination services.

On the night I had the pleasure of catching up with other 1989 alumni Susan Kinobe and Kathleen McCarthy along with Judy Higgins-Olsen who was announced as an SMMC Local Legend. Congratulations Judy!
