24.01.2022 Come for a massage and give yourself some breathing space...

23.01.2022 Now this is interesting! "American sports doctor Dr Gabe Mirkin is the man who came up with RICE back in 1978. In 2015, he publicly conceded the new evidence showed it did not work." Some news travels slowly, it seems. ... So, what should we do when we roll an ankle, e.g.? "Exercise. A 2016 review of the evidence by Irish scientists in the leading British Journal of Sports Medicine found a targeted program to strengthen the ankle was the only thing that sped up healing and reduced the risk of rolling the joint again."

23.01.2022 Plans are afoot to re-open my massage work...stay tuned. Hope you’re all okay. It’s been a bumpy ride for everyone, some more than others. Keep checking in on people.

23.01.2022 Hello, everyone, I hope youre all keeping well and are seeking help if you need it in any way. While I am not yet back at work, a couple of friends shared this video to inspire me on safe remedial massage practice in the time of Covid-19.... tell me what you think! https://www.facebook.com/346595455428083/posts/2866862200068050/?vh=e

23.01.2022 I think this is a much more positive way of being

21.01.2022 Dear All, Just to let you know officially, I have suspended my massage therapy services for the time being to protect you, my clients and the wider community. Government advice is that healthcare workers continue to operate however I feel the risk is too high at present to justify operating. (A recent government ruling is that massage and tattoo parlours close however I dont feel that applies to my practice! :))... Please do stay well and and stay home as much as as possible, practice physical distance, excellent hygiene and I do encourage you to read the article below which has excellent advice and tips. We want to emerge from this challenge kinder, more connected and wiser. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. I will miss you all for now. Stay in touch. Warm Regards, Veronika

21.01.2022 I havent danced in ages! We are lucky to have a variety of classes up here in the Mountains as well as a thriving live music scene, so get into it if you can...if you need some motivation, read the article below. Im just checking my schedule...

20.01.2022 Im taking a break over Xmas and New Year, from Saturday December 21st and returning Monday January 13. Ill be working Monday to Saturday that week so please feel free to message me for appointments. Stay safe, support your local RFS if you can and Ill see you in 2020!

19.01.2022 I hope everyone is keeping well. Reach out if you need help and help out if you can. A big thank you to all the many people keeping the wheels turning, the lights on, the medical and allied health workers, the carers etc. Call a friend, check in on a neighbour, be grateful to the shop staff.

19.01.2022 Remember the importance of bare feet on the earth. It feels amazing. The following article gives the scientific background to the benefits which is fascinating. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4378297/

19.01.2022 Saying goodbye to my beautiful workspace home of the last two years at 52 Govetts Leap Road. Its been wonderful. Im now working from 2A/42 Govetts Leap Road, a hop, skip and a jump away. Wayne Levi has set up a beautiful clinic in my previous clinic space and invited me to share it. Look forward to seeing you all there!

18.01.2022 I like this...lets not let EVERYTHING go back to normal after this has passed. Let us reduce our greediness for money and unnecessary goods, renew our environment, get rid of factory farming, respect and cherish and bring our elders into our daily lives again, take care of those families with children who dont have stable home lives, dont have internet at home, dont have enough food...I could go on but this crisis has exposed the cracks in our societies. We have an opportunity now.

17.01.2022 I have SO many lovely clients with osteoartritis so I thought I would share this informaton below in the hopes that taking on the information and implementing it could help someone out there, be it you or a family member, friend or collaegue. We dont need to spend our later years with joint pain. Let me know if you have any successes to share! https://nutritionfacts.org//turmeric-curcumin-and-osteoar/

17.01.2022 Grab your walking shoes and start off slow! Read the article for information and motivation. ""Movement is essential for nutrition of the cartilage," says Dr. Virginia Byers Kraus, a professor at Duke Universitys Molecular Physiology Institute who serves on the research and medical committees of the Arthritis Foundation.... "Cartilage doesnt have a blood supply but does have living cells," she explains. "So the way it gets nutrition is by dynamic motion putting weight off and on as you walk and move. The fluid inside the joint flows into and out of the cartilage like a sponge, so all the nutrients in the joint fluid get into the cartilage" and help slow any degradation there."

16.01.2022 Dear all, Im on a break at the moment. Back on deck Tuesday 30th July.Dear all, Im on a break at the moment. Back on deck Tuesday 30th July.

16.01.2022 Hello, everyone. I just wanted to say, I have not forgotten you and many of you are on my mind frequently. While I am not yet ready to re-open the clinic for remedial massage for a few reasons, including not yet having a clinic space (it is in the works!) and the demands of the last few weeks of the university semester, please know that I miss you and I hope you are all doing okay or better. I so value you all and the richness you bring to my world.

16.01.2022 How are you all going? Im very proud of my local Blackheath Community all pulling together. Stay strong, please ask for help if you need it (those of us who can help would love the opportunity), stay in if you can, and thank you SO much to those working in essential roles.

15.01.2022 I definitely need this! :) "What we saw is that the impact of exercise on executive function increased with age, such that, for example, someone age 40 improve more than someone age 30, adds Stern. Since executive function decreases with age, this makes us think that exercising reverses the decline in cognition as opposed to enhancing cognition.

12.01.2022 A wonderful concept heading into a new year...read on... "Wellbeing is realising your potential while embracing the challenges of life. When we pursue wellbeing, we reframe our thinking around our difficulties. Rather than being pesky inconveniencesor devastating blowsthey provide an opportunity to grow; where we can summon all of the strengths and smarts we can muster and expand ourselves to rise to their occasion. How gratifying is the feeling of overcoming a particularly thorny challenge? Its the triumph of our spirit over diversity."

12.01.2022 Yes, rug up and get out there. You will feel so much better. Find a walking buddy, take your dog, borrow a dog...

12.01.2022 "... in 2006 during an Italian study on the effects of types of music on the body. Interestingly, the researchers discovered that the participants relaxed more during the two minutes of silence when they were changing tracks than they did when listening to the music itself. When the brain hears sounds, it has to determine their meaning, which involves the amygdala, the fearful part of the brain, explains neuroscientist Dr Fiona Kerr, from the University of Adelaide. Even when youre asleep, your brains sorting through the noise you hear. But during silence, the amygdalas activity slows, you relax and stress-hormone levels fall.

11.01.2022 This looks great...

11.01.2022 Well, what a beginning to 2020... lets continue to let these challenges unite us and spur us to greater action to pivot and to begin to really take action, protect our environment and move towards regeneration. I am back at work next week beginning Monday 13th and will be working every day up to and including Saturday 18th January. I am away then for 2 weeks on a uni placement and then will will work a few weeks into February...and stay tuned to see what my schedule is aft...er that! Just wanted to let you know that appointments are available. Please all stay safe and Im looking forward to seeing you around or in clinic. (This photo is of our hydrangeas which are miraculously still healthy in this drought. Theyre obviously in a good position as the ones around the other side of the house are suffering. Position, position, position! :) )

11.01.2022 I may have to display this beautiful poem in our *dusty, etc at times) home...

09.01.2022 Very sane, good advice. Thank you. Please do share it.

09.01.2022 Thank you, Leunig.

09.01.2022 Too often we are not our bodys friend. We may neglect our bodies, treat them as merely a vehicle for our brains without recognising the interwovenness of mind and body, criticise them, catalogue their flaws and the ways in which they dont work perfectly... Love your body, nurture it, appreciate what you can of it and that list of things you love and appreciate about your body will increase.

07.01.2022 Absolutely essential reading. "Vagusstoff (acetylcholine) is like a tranquilizer that you can self-administer simply by taking a few deep breaths with long exhales. Consciously tapping into the power of your vagus nerve can create a state of inner-calm while taming your inflammation reflex."

07.01.2022 I really do like this...

07.01.2022 I have just been introduced to this mother and daughter cooking pair. They are hilarious together. And the recipes are terrific! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KC7bKYOcl0&feature=share

07.01.2022 Well, Uni has started again for the year as of last week and I have a heavy subject load this semester so will only be available Saturdays till the second half of the year. I am happy to recommend other therapists and if Im unable to see you, please stay well and see you hopefully in Winter!

07.01.2022 Dear All, As many of you know, I have taken a big leap into the unknown this year and begun a Masters in Occupational Therapy. Its terrific and Im enjoying the challenge (most of the time!) and have also realised that I need to reduce my massage therapist hours, at least during semester time. As of this week I will be available all day Saturdays only. Please book ahead and I do hope I can continue to see you all as you are very important to me. If I cant, I am happy t...o recommend other local therapists, of course. Stay warm in this season and Ill see you soon.

06.01.2022 Many of my clients have come to realise that certain exercises or activities no longer work for them because they aggravate existing issues...far better to change your attitude and integrate more and more movement into your daily activities as well or in place of more intensive activities. Work WITH your body, enjoy moving and embrace mindful movement, dont exercise with your mind disengaged. "We often conflate efficiency with effectiveness especially when it comes to... our bodies. This can be troublesome when vanity is thrown into the mix. Over the past few years, the fitness industry has rebranded the ideal, telling women (and men) that they dont have to be thin, but strong. CrossFit, for example, now prominently features women in its promotional materials. But anytime exercise is turned into a race for results, health easily loses out to image." See more

03.01.2022 I just came across this article and I think the thoughts and advice in it are so useful and true...

03.01.2022 Get on out there! "According to the study, three to five training sessions each lasting between 30 to 60 minutes per week is ideal."

02.01.2022 Plans are afoot to re-open my massage work...stay tuned. Hope youre all okay. Its been a bumpy ride for everyone, some more than others. Keep checking in on people.

01.01.2022 I’ve just come across the work of Prof. Lorimer Moseley via my uni studies. Brilliant! And a very engaging presenter, lots of bad jokes. I like his style as well as his content; this could change so many lives. It already has. Have a look if you or someone you know has chronic pain issues. https://www.tamethebeast.org/
