You might expect a clichéd tale of sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll (don’t get me wrong, you get an excellent dose of it) but this story is so much more! There's Daisy Jones, who appears to be the epitome of effortless: effortless beauty, effortless talent and effortless charisma. Then there’s The Six, a moderately successful band, with a classic front man and trailblazing feminist on the keys. The book tells the sto...ry of these talents joining forces and the highs and lows that ensue. The unexpected elements of Daisy Jones and The Six delight the most. While 1970s rock ’n’ roll was a man’s world, it’s the female characters that steal the show. These kick-arse women are incredibly different, but all are strong, interesting people in their own right. Also, pearls of wisdom slap you in the face page after page. I didn’t expect a story about rock ’n’ roll to perfectly capture and articulate so many life lessons, but quotes from the story will stay with me for a long time. I didn’t want Daisy Jones and The Six to end, but when it did, it brought surprises, finality and a few tears.
