25.01.2022 DDB 2020 is less than 48 hours away - there's only a handful of entries left in the 30km! Before the event last year we sat down with Bradley Widders to chat about the history of Duembandyi (Mt Duval). Brad, a proud Anaiwan man, gave a welcome to country on event day (things a little different with COVID), this is a short excerpt from our conversation.

25.01.2022 Our latest web project is a news/article driven website for UNE Environment Industry Connect. Although its primary aim is connecting students and graduates with industry; it's also a great resource for anyone interested in environmental science. https://www.uneenvironment.news

23.01.2022 A real pleasure filming on Saturday with hugely-talented Ngarrabul artists Adele and Avril Chapman. The short film will be used by UNE's Oorala Centre as part of their Youth Program weaving workshop series. Just started editing today, but in the meantime here are a few snaps from the session on the beautiful Mann River. More on Adele and Avril here: https://www.facebook.com/Marama-li-Ngarrabul-Cultural-Practices-133022258163576/

23.01.2022 Has been great working with the NERAM team on this project. Honoured that the book has been short-listed. Congratulations to all the artists involved.

22.01.2022 Just back from a few days shooting video around Walcha for an upcoming tourism campaign. Weather wasn't ideal, but still great to be out there! Here are a few stills. It's no doubt going to take some time for the area to recover after the fires, but it's still a joy to witness the beginning of nature's repair process. First in a series of short films coming soon.

21.01.2022 Here's a final edit of the short Banbai film covering the last 12 months at Wattle Ridge. It covers what's been done post-fires to help rehabilitate the property, and how cultural burning practices helped to protect the important rock art site. It's been a pleasure working with the Banbai mob over the last couple of years.

21.01.2022 One of the more random photography jobs we've done; part of a campaign for a Melbourne-based wine merchant. Nice to hear that our Victorian mates are getting to enjoy some socialising this weekend. Glasses of red all round!

21.01.2022 Each year we develop a unique logo mark for AARNet's 'Networkshop' event. It's a national forum that brings together network engineers from universities and research institutions. Being 'digital-only' this year, we felt it was important that the brand conveyed a sense of 'togetherness' and warmth, along with the themes of collaboration and connection. The simple logo mark was used on t-shirts, print collateral and across digital platforms.

20.01.2022 This video, produced for Local Land Services, is designed to be shown on 4K TVs in visitor information centres across the region (8x the resolution uploaded here). It showcases the five publically-accessible wetland lagoons; Thomas, Mother of Ducks, Dangars, Racecourse and Little Llangothlin. We'll be updating the video in spring with hopefully more birdlife. The lagoons are really only just starting to recover from the drought.

19.01.2022 We’ve been collaborating with the UNE SRI on their ‘move into town’ for some time now. verso has worked on the branding, graphic design, copywriting, photography, video and even a little bit of the interior design for the old library redevelopment. The NOVA brand is inspired by the New England Peppermint. The tree rings symbolise growth. Nova is also a word meaning ‘a star that suddenly becomes thousands of times brighter’. The brand is therefore intrinsically linked to both the natural space we all exist in, and the aspirations of the community. NOVA will be ‘live’ later in the year.

17.01.2022 Verso has been working with the JNC Group for 10 years; almost to the day! They've been an incredible company to work with, and it's been great to see them grow exponentially from a single small Armidale home office, to locations around the country. As an Indigenous owned business, JNC strives to build a unified and diverse workforce based on integrity and quality. Their diverse portfolio includes construction, procurement, fencing and security. They are 'Supply Nation' certified. In the last 10 years Verso has worked on branding, apparel design, copywriting, websites, print collateral, interior fit outs, vehicle skins, signage, video and marketing. www.jncgroup.com.au

17.01.2022 Verso created the 'dynamic' brand for the Movement and Landscape Ecology Lab at Charles Darwin University. The lab develops technologies and techniques for tracking the migration and dispersal of animals. The spatial movement information is integrated with environmental data and physiological variables to help us understand the patterns, causes, and consequences of animal movement. Currently there are two logos that interchange with more animal variations to come. The idea being that the brand style is iconic enough to maintain brand consistency, but the variations of the logo create impact whilst reflecting the dynamic nature of their work.

17.01.2022 One of the 12 case study videos we produced on the road in Victoria with UNE Education and VIC Education Department.

17.01.2022 A slightly extended version of the Walcha winter vid we produced recently. verso is also managing the digital marketing campaign across NSW. #wildwalcha

16.01.2022 We developed The Boilerhouse brand for UNE Discovery years ago now, and since have worked on their print collateral, signage, apparel, videos and websites. We thought we'd show the genesis for the logo; the original concept behind the brand. Whilst we've played with a steampunk aesthetic for much of the identity to date, the brand is designed to be conceptually broader in its appeal.

15.01.2022 Sometimes finding the right stock music track for a video takes longer than composing it yourself! Although we'd work with professional composers for any high end project, we have been been known to pull out the keyboards and put down some beats, as was the case this afternoon. You'll hear the result in a video soon. We usually use our little 'mini studio' to record podcasts and audio effects. Now where did that weekend go... :-)

14.01.2022 A short video produced for UNE Environment with Dr Debbie Bower at Little Llangothlin Lagoon last week.

14.01.2022 verso has been contracted to film the 'Ladies in Livestock' workshops for Local Land Services. Editing is to come, but in the meantime, here are a few stills from the Walcha event. Ladies in Livestock is excellent series of workshops focussed on technical skill development and community-building. www.facebook.com/ladiesinlivestock

13.01.2022 Verso produced this video for Local Land Services at one of their recent cultural burning workshops in Delungra. The workshop was led by Victor Steffensen; one of the leading experts in the field. Great sharing of indigenous knowledge with important agricultural, ecological and economic outcomes.

13.01.2022 Happy World Wetlands Day! Photo: Little Llangothlin Nature Reserve. Still from drone video we took a few months ago. https://www.environment.gov.au//wetlands/world-wetlands-day

12.01.2022 We recently gave Phoenix Foundry a brand refresh; overhauling their visual identity across signage, print, digital, and also created the 'made my hand in Uralla' logo mark. The video we made to launch the rebrand can be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/331743552

12.01.2022 We met with UNE student Dawn Lewis last week to produce this quick video for the Oorala Centre. Dawn has completed a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science with first class honours. She had also recently been accepted into a prestigious Oxford University masters program. Dawn is a proud Woolwonga woman and it was a absolute pleasure to hear about her family history, as well as her passion for genetics and archaeology.

12.01.2022 A few more stills from the #wildwalcha film shoot recently. Loving the rain ATM, but the wind is delaying a second shoot... We're hoping to get back in the gorges soon for more ' wild nature' filming.

06.01.2022 Portrait photographers we ain't, but when you're shooting video, you're often called to take a snap or two. Here are just a few of the beautiful New England characters we've shot.

06.01.2022 It was great working with some awesome stage 2 students from Sandon Public School to produce this short video about Thalgarrah's new Nature of Art / Art of Nature program.

03.01.2022 Finished the edit on this short video with Ngarrabul artists Adele Chapman-Burgess and Avril Chapman. They talk candidly about their art inspirations on country, whilst literally weaving some magic!

03.01.2022 A few stills from our video shoot on Friday with Birth Beat CEO and founder; Edwina Sharrock. We’re in the process of producing more videos for their latest birthing and parenting programs.

02.01.2022 Another video in the Wild Walcha series. This time, Taina tells us about her love of motorcycling, the Oxley Highway, her Italian Stallion, New England Women Riders, and why she loves living in Walcha; "a motorcycling mecca!"
