23.01.2022 World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is an awareness day observed on 10 September every year, in order to provide a worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented. Even in a best-case scenario, Australia is forecast to see an increase in suicide deaths of at least 13.7% over the next 5 years, according to a new report released by the University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Cen...tre. The Road to recovery: restoring Australia’s mental wealth report, released in August this year, highlighted the importance of coordinated economic, education, social and mental health measures in safeguarding the mental health of Australians in the wake of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The report cautioned that more awareness may not be the answer, forecasting that mental health awareness programs may increase mental health-related emergency department (ED) presentations by 5.2% in the 20202025 period.

01.01.2022 AMY VEE plays Svetlana Sergievsky Amy has over 20 years experience in the performing arts. Her music theatre roles include Eva Peron in EVITA (National Theatre Company), Eponine in LES MISERABLES (CTN Productions), Anita in WEST SIDE STORY (Opera Hunter), Rizzo in GREASE (Rock City Productions) and Mimi in RENT (Hunter Drama). Recent dramatic roles include Athena in AJAX IN IRAQ (Knock & Run Theatre), Joan in LOVE SONG (Stooged Theatre) and Coral in AWAY (Pantseat Productio...ns). Amy is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and highly awarded songwriter. She has worked as an orchestral player, vocal coach, music tutor and musical director, as well as touring nationally with artists such as Tim Freedman and Jon English. A psychology graduate, Amy has worked for over a decade in the prevention of mental ill-health and suicide and has a special interest in wellbeing and the arts. Amy is a Member of the Board of Directors for Listen Up Music Australia and an ambassador for national mental health charity Entertainment Assist.
