25.01.2022 Thank you all for your kind words regarding our success at Marburg Show, it was a truly great day. It was wonderful to have a judge that knew what Square Meaters are all about and one who did not go down the old route of "bigger must be better". His positive enthusiastic comments did the Squares a power of good.

25.01.2022 At the 2016 Brisbane RNA yesterday the Square Meaters female "Vesco Joy to the World" sure brought joy to the world of her breeder / owner Jo van Elten when she took out the Senior and Grand Champion Female award. It was a nail biting wait (no fingernails left !!!) while the judge Graham Brown deliberated his decision, but in the end the great udder on this female got us over the line. Thanks to the great parading / preparation team of Dhana Stokes and Meaghan Hockey for all their hard work, the results sure were worth it.

20.01.2022 Esk Show yesterday was another great day for my young Square Meaters bull "Vesco King of the Castle". Winning the Champion Square Meaters bull and then selected as the interbreed Supreme Champion British Breed Bull. This was his second interbreed win in three shows. With great comments from the judge, people are really getting to know about Square Meaters now !! Thanks Courtney for a parading job very well done.

17.01.2022 The final calf for 2016 "Vesco Miss Ajal" made her appearance on the 29th December, just in time for some seriously hot weather. She is the brightest most inquisitive little sweetie - a lovely way to end the year

15.01.2022 Toowoomba Royal is over for another year, Took two yearlings and received the Champion Junior Bull award with "Vesco King of the Castle" despite him being down with 3 Day just 2 weeks ago. My heifer "Vesco Kind of Nice" was the Reserve Junior Champion. I would have to say that it was a really good show, great people and good cattle made it super enjoyable.

14.01.2022 I was saddened to hear that Gary Sewell felt unable to continue as the Chairman of the Square Meaters Cattle Association. Gary had successfully led us through recent major changes and the restructure of our association, which was a massive undertaking. Amongst other things, his forward thinking saw the advent of our first ever breed specific hoof and hook competition which was a great promotional success for our breed. Unfortunately, our association (like many others) has a... small number of obstructive and sometimes downright destructive members, whose short sightedness and self interest make it exceptionally difficult to carry our association forward. The Square Meaters Cattle Association has a recognised Code of Conduct that all members are required to and should abide by. Garys major aims always were the promotion of our great cattle and the welfare of our association. He was always a positive and constructive Chairman whose enthusiasm will be greatly missed. I hope that our future Chairpersons receive the co-operation and respect that they deserve. I would like to offer my thanks to Gary for all his efforts and achievements, he has certainly earned my admiration and respect. Thanks Gary for a job well done! 12.01.2022 Finally got busy breaking in the next lot of calves and none too soon as the six, 3 heifers 3 bulls weighed in at between 184kg and 245kg and they are only 5 and 6 months old

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Doug and Sandra Farrawell of Sandough Square Meaters at Murgon on the purchase of the well performed young bull "Vesco King of the Castle". "King" was the Grand Champion British Breed Bull and the Supreme British Breed Exhibit at the 2016 Marburg Show, the Grand Champion British Breed Bull at the 2016 Esk Show and he also rated Super Elite in the Natural Ecosystems Carcase Merit Index at Farmfest last week. I am sure that he will be a positive addition to their stud.

06.01.2022 Toowoomba Royal show is over for another year and it was another great success for the stud. "Vesco Jolly Roger", my 15 month old bull was awarded the Junior and Grand Champion bull. This was despite him being down with 3 day fever not a month ago. Congratulations to all exhibitors for producing such a good line of quality cattle.

03.01.2022 Vesco Stud had a great day last Saturday at our local show. Our young bull "Vesco King of the Castle" was the Champion Square Meaters Bull, then went on to be awarded the Supreme Champion British Breed Bull and to top it all off was selected as the Supreme Champion British Breed Exhibit. What a sucessful day for him. Both beasties were beautifully presented and paraded by Dhana Stokes, Thanks Dhana !!
