25.01.2022 First weekend in our new home done and dusted! So happy to be in this beautiful space with Rhi and her team, and to have had so many Vessel Voyagers already come and visit!

(Getting some Joan Jett/Runaways vibes there ) PLUS, dish swishers! Get your dishes clean the way grandma did. Perfect for use with our solid dish soap blocks.

24.01.2022 Today (Wednesday) is Vessels last day open in its triangular home! Well be closed Thursday and Friday and open in our new home at The Plant Lounge this Saturday! (Any Bobs Burgers fans out there? )

24.01.2022 I can’t wait to jump in the car tomorrow for the first day of deliveries! If you live in postcode 4012, get your orders in by midday today (Sunday) for delivery tomorrow!

24.01.2022 Considering a new logo... loving this piece by @hyperboleandahalf and a big shout out to California refill shop Blue Dot Refill where I saw it

24.01.2022 At Vessel, you can bring your own clean, dry containers from home to fill up with whatever you like. These containers can be your old hand soap pump, a pasta sauce or instant coffee jar, a Tupperware container for your powders, or a fancy set of pumps you purchased so you can be matchy-matchy - it’s all good! If you don’t have your own containers, or need more, the photo shows the ones we sell - a mixture of 100 and 500mL pumps and sprays. And the 1L bottles are free to use as I get them from Andrew the Stanthorpe Apple Man at the Nundah Farmers Markets!

24.01.2022 That's it from Vessel Nundah this year folks, thank you to all of you for your support, and for all the many, many ways you work toward a greener, more sustainable world. I hope you have an enjoyable Christmas, and get to rest and recharge before we see you again when we reopen for 2021 on Saturday, 2nd January. Time to wrap some presents and have a wine! Take care, and we'll see you on the other side! xx Maz and the Vessel Nundah team.

23.01.2022 The brands that make the products we sell at Vessel are more than just brands or suppliers - each has been hand picked by me, and are Australian small businesses. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to help you get to know the people behind the amazing products we sell. First up is Karina from Wander & Find. Wander & Find is a Vessel fave - small batch skin and haircare products, handcrafted in Hervey Bay since 2013, using all natural, often organic ingredients. W&F collect an...d reuse all the bulk containers they send us too! I asked Karina from W&F to tell us a bit more about her business: 1. What inspired you to start your business? I studied beauty therapy and believe we need ingredients that calm our skin rather than mask issues. 2. What are the values you uphold in your business? Maintaining an affordable range that is kind to skin. Purchasing from Australian businesses and supporting smaller businesses where possible. Minimising as much impact as possible by reusing bulk containers and sending parcels in eco packaging. 3. What you love/find most challenging about running your business? I love how satisfying it is to hear that my products are helping skin feel calmer/clearer. Most challenging part is space - looking forward to the extension on my workspace being completed so I can buy larger mixing equipment. 4. Your favourite product from your range and why? My Cleanse Oil is definitely my favourite child - since its created for my own skin (I suffer with hormonal and cystic acne outbreaks) has never been calmer, and looks more hydrated now than in my 30’s (I’m 44). We stock W&F’s Facial Cleanse Oil, Harmony Facial Cream, Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner and the beautifully gentle Chamomile & Oat Shampoo & Conditioner which is a Vessel exclusive!

23.01.2022 To everyone who has been asking for a thicker facial moisturiser or night cream, our Noosa faves Natural Skincare Solutions have delivered!!! We now have their luscious, organic Skin Rejuvenating Cream and their Bio-Active Anti-Wrinkle Cream. Due to the decadent thickness of these creams, they cannot be pumped, so will only be sold pre-packaged in 60g glass jars.

22.01.2022 So, this happened (and we had our second birthday!) and I forgot to post about it!!! Hats off to you Vessel Voyagers, this is really something you can be proud of.

22.01.2022 I have just learned that today is World Refill Day! Didn’t even know that was a thing! So here’s cheers to all the amazing refillers out there - keep on refillin’ (Fun fact: I nearly named Vessel ‘Fill ‘Er Up’ and was going to have a 50’s style pinup girl with a petrol pump as the logo ).

22.01.2022 Can I buy a vowel?

22.01.2022 Get excited, the virtual Green Heart Fair is next week (and we’re offering a cheeky discount for attendees)!!!

21.01.2022 Well hello there! Ive been on a bit of a social media hiatus since the move, but thought Id take a moment to reintroduce myself and what Vessel Nundah is all about. Im Marion (Maz): mum of Mr 7 and Ms 5. We live in Nundah, and have two big doggos. I studied Environmental Management and Public Health at uni (and am contemplating going back to become a librarian!). I adore reading (best books Ive read this year are Melinda Gates The Moment of Lift and Heather Roses The Mu...seum of Modern Love). I was born in Sydney, grew up near Coffs Harbour (hello, Dorrigo and Bellingen!) and moved to Brisbane when I finished school. I started Vessel Nundah over 2 years ago to address the amount of single-use plastic that is used for household essentials such as dishwashing liquid and shampoo. Yes, some of this packaging can be recycled, but why do we need it at all, cant we just refill the bottles we have? I felt low-plastic food shopping was reasonably well covered, so made skincare and cleaning products my focus. So, bring your own clean and dry containers from home, and fill up on lovely, Australian-made products at Vessel Nundah! All our products and prices are listed on the website, or come in to our fancy new digs inside The Plant Lounge, and have a chat! (And thanks for the visit and photo Shift!)

21.01.2022 Oh gosh, check out these little pots of heaven! Handmade clay masks, eye balms and body butters in jars made from sustainably sourced timber (salvaged logs and recycled timber). And lip balms in pots made from bamboo! The photo doesnt do them justice, they are so special! And the funniest thing - they are made by Avirida in a tiny little town in NSW called Dorrigo, which is where I grew up! (Yet I found them entirely by chance on Instagram!)

21.01.2022 The divine Luscious Body Wash is back in stock! Think gorgeous notes of bergamot, cedarwood and geranium - loved by guys, gals and kids! And what's this wizardry?! You can now shop right here on Facebook...!

20.01.2022 Open 10-3 today (Friday) folks!

20.01.2022 Yesterday, like so many people already, and so many more to come in this unfathomable year, I lost my job. The one that I have joked (but not really) with many of you actually pays me money. Im ok; Im in a fortunate position in a two-income household, and am endlessly grateful for that.... So what now? Well, Vessel has only ever received half my love and attention, and now it can have it all! So get ready for Vessel to kick up the amazing to another level. I have so many ideas and am really excited for the next phase! I am also going to practice some self-care. Overshare: Im going to get the overdue pap smear and mole check, and get fitted for a bra which might actually fit now that my breastfeeding days are (long) over. Im going to clean out the clutter in my house which gets me down. And I started today with a cup-filling breakfast with the amazing Carlie from Mumma got skills. Carlie and I met on the Impact Boom Elevate+ program last year and she is a complete powerhouse of a woman, and so generous with her time and wisdom. And shes claiming the breakfast as work expense. Yasss queen Heres hoping you too can have a lets do this kind of day tomorrow, or a self-care day (one really helps the other). Or soon. Just whenever. P.S. ...and Im at Straddie this weekend! (Shop is open normal hours).

20.01.2022 I'm a week late on this, but wanted to share my memories of the 2011 Brisbane floods - now 10 years ago. I had graduated from my Environmental Management course at the end of 2010, and the week of the floods had started my Graduate position with the Queensland Government - in the water department! I got through a whole day and a half at my new job in the CBD before we were evacuated. I was living in Kenmore in Brisbane's west, and I will never forget the sight of the Brisbane... River lapping at the edges of Coronation Drive as I rode home on one of the last buses to get out of the city - it felt truly apocalyptic. I also had my wedding booked for April 2011, and our venue was to be at South Bank - every time the news showed the aerial footage of the CBD and South Bank, I was on the edge of my seat!! Thankfully our home was ok, and even our wedding venue survived unscathed (it was a first floor venue - the restaurant below was destroyed). However, so many others lost so much. These are the photos I took at Chapel Hill. Flood water cut Moggill Rd, so the outer suburbs were an island for a few days. If you'd like to share your memories, I'd love to hear them. The Museum of Brisbane also has a beautiful virtual tribute, which can be found on their website. I'll pop the link in the comments.

18.01.2022 Happy new year Nundah! See you tomorrow when we reopen for 2021.

17.01.2022 MAJOR NEWS!!! Do you love The Plant Lounge? So do I, so weve decided to move in!! In major news, Vessel Nundah will be moving into The Plant Lounge as of Tuesday 1st September! Rhi and her team are amazing and we cant wait for this double-powered awesomeness! What this means for Vessel Voyagers: Find us inside The Plant Lounge at Shop 1, 8 Station St, Nundah from Tuesday 1st September (next to the Neighbourhood Centre carpark). Extended opening hours! 9-4 Tuesday-Satu...rday, and 9-1 Sunday. Get your refills and your plants in one amazing shop! The hugest gratitude to Community Living Association and Nundah Community Enterprises Cooperative for giving Vessel a chance and a home for over 2 years. Without their support, we simply would not have started. I think there will be a tear or two leaving Vessels triangular spiritual home! (Hint: Watch that space for something new coming!)

15.01.2022 Time for the second post in our series on our new range of DIY ingredients. This one is on... bentonite clay! (Thanks to Blants for the background info). This sodium Bentonite Clay is formed from volcanic ash that has been trapped for eons in sea beds in Australia, and is finely milled to 45 microns. When mixed with water it blends to a silky smooth texture, soft to the touch. The clay is harvested, dried, milled and packaged with absolutely no chemicals used. Compliant to Fo...od Standards Australia & NZ. It is not tested on animals, is suitable for vegans, and is allergen free. No added colourings, fragrances or flow agents. Bentonite clay contains an abundance of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron and potassium. Researchers report that several traditional cultures living in regions of the Andes, Central Africa, and here in Australia have used Bentonite Clay for centuries. Bentonite Clay is negatively charged attracting and binding toxins. It swells like a highly porous sponge when mixed with water. Toxins are drawn into the sponge through electrical attraction, and once there, they are bound. Bentonite clay can be used as a key ingredient in heaps of DIYs including: Face masks Skin Poultice for bites/burns/cuts/stings/sprains Clay bath Foot soak Full Body Mud Pack (!) Talc Powder Tooth cleaning powder or paste Armpit detox Natural deodorant Shampoo/dry shampoo Internal digestive support. Im loving this roundup of uses from Wellness Mama (link in comments).

14.01.2022 These decadently thick organic facial creams from our Noosa friends Natural Skincare Solutions are back in stock! Get in quick if you missed out last time...

14.01.2022 Getting excited at The Cystic Fibrosis Queensland Bookshop (In my defence, did donate a few boxes worth too!)

14.01.2022 Have you met Susan? Susan is a member of the Nundah Community Enterprises Cooperative, which provides employment for people with mental and intellectual disabilities. Susan has been in the Vessel team almost from the very beginning! If you come into the shop on Tuesdays between 11 and 1, you will be cheerfully served by Susan and her support worker! #welovesusan

12.01.2022 Look what the very clever Plastic-free Brisbane did with some of our spare laundry powder buckets - turned them into useful (and pretty) storage for her gardening supplies! We love good a upcycle!

12.01.2022 The first week of Vessel Nundah home deliveries is done and dusted. Now it's your turn, Moreton Bay Regional Council people! To all our friends in Eatons Hill, Everton Hills, Redcliffe, Samford and beyond, your first monthly home delivery day will be this Thursday 24th June. Orders must total a minimum of $40, plus $5 delivery fee. Free delivery for orders over $75.... Unfortunately we are not able to put Moreton orders through the website at the moment (I'm working on that), so for now we're using a low-tech workaround. So to place your order, these are the steps: 1. Head to the website: www.vesselnundah.com.au and create an Account. 2. Write your desired order in an email to [email protected] (depending how many items you are ordering, you could even add them to your cart and email me a screenshot). 3. I'll email you an invoice to pay. 4. I'll deliver on Thursday 24th June! As always, if you have any questions, please let me know. xx Marion.

12.01.2022 Yay! Were open, its happening! Come on down and fill up your containers with locally made, people and planet friendly skincare and cleaning products. (And grab yourself a plant while youre at it )

11.01.2022 Sound on! Plastic Free July is just days away! Heres how we can help at Vessel. Plus all products and prices are on the website.

11.01.2022 The numbers in this top nine don’t matter, but the moments sure do. Happy New Years Vessel Voyagers, see you when we reopen on Saturday, 2nd January.

11.01.2022 One of the main reasons I started Vessel (as a complete business newb), is that I didnt want to have to pay a huge premium in order to shop ethically. I also felt that the prices on most refillables would exclude a large number of people from shopping this way, and therefore prevent us from avoiding a whole lot of plastic waste. Two-and-a-bit-years on, my eyes are now open to the realities and overheads of running a business, particularly a bricks-and-mortar retail business,... but I am still firmly committed to this principle. Yes, Ive added to the range over the years, and you can definitely get some more luxe items if you choose, but if you just want the basics, weve got you covered too. The supermarket trolley in the first picture shows brands and sizes of containers we frequently see being used for refills at Vessel. It was priced online from a well-known supermarket using Nundah as the location. (Yes, you can buy Home Brand everything and of course it will be cheaper than what Ive chosen, but Ive gone for a middle-ground). The second picture is what it costs to refill them at Vessel. This comparison is simply to illustrate that shopping at Vessel is not crazy expensive, but beyond that, it is so much more. It is putting your hard-earned money back in the pockets of small businesses in the region who put everything into the products you use in your home and on your body every day. Their workers are treated and paid fairly. The products are better for you and the planet, and are great quality. They didnt travel half way around the world on a container ship. And you dont have to throw another bloody bottle away. Winning.

10.01.2022 Ok, post no. 3 on our DIY ingredients range: washing soda! Washing Soda, also known as Sodium Carbonate, is a key component of laundry soaps and other household cleaning products. It easily removes dirt and tough greasy stains from clothes, utensils, floors and other surfaces. It is all natural simply harvested, filtered and refined. A premium Sodium Carbonate with no added ingredients from the USA. There are no chemical fragrances, colourants or flow agents, and is not tes...ted on animals. How can you use it? - Swap half your usual laundry powder for Washing Soda youll get a cleaner, softer wash as it softens the water, allowing the detergent to work better. - Strong Washing Soda solution is great for removing burnt-on grease from pans and dishes. - Use a strong, hot solution to clean surfaces like floor tiles, patios and paths, painted areas and woodwork, stonework and decks. - Great for cleaning chopping boards, mops and dishcloths. - Plastic or cane garden furniture comes up as good as new using a strong Washing Soda solution. - A mild solution leaves windows, mirrors and tiles sparkling. - It cuts through soap scum and lime scale in the bath, basin and shower. - It freshens up the toilet, tiles and grouting. - It acts as a fungicide that can kill mould and mildew in damp - areas of the house. - In the garden you can use it to target green fly, mildew and black spot. Safety and Handling - Although this is a natural product, you need to use it correctly as it has very high alkalinity and can be an irritant to sensitive skin. So please - Wear rubber gloves when using it if you have sensitive skin - Consider wearing glasses to protect your eyes - Do not inhale or consume this product - Dont use Washing Soda on aluminium, fibreglass or polished/waxed/varnished surfaces as it reacts with these. Thanks again to Blants for the info.

09.01.2022 How we all doing out there? This message hit home for me on multiple levels today. Mr Vessel says Im a pessimist, I feel Im actually fairly optimistic. My Mr 7 definitely focuses on the empty part of the cup, where my Miss 5 is probably a healthy mix. At the moment its easy to feel a bit more half empty than normal, and I think that is a pretty reasonable response to the world right now. But regardless of how full or empty your cup may feel or be, do try and do something that makes it FEEL fuller - whatever works for you. Big love Vessel Voyagers (Im starting right now with a hot cuppa enjoyed while children are otherwise occupied)

06.01.2022 Just call me Martha Stewart So pleased with how these turned out! I saw these being made over on Babble Dabble Do and thought, I could do that! I bought the paper bags from Kmart in packs of 20, then it’s just a matter of gluing and cutting! I found Babble Dabble Do while we were learning from home earlier this year , and honestly, she is by far the best kids craft resource I have ever found. The craft projects are GENUINELY doable (for me and my kids), and she has printable templates for lots of projects which makes them super easy. (These stars were a me-only project).

Jump on to the event page, mark yourself as going, tag your friends, and start making your list for Santa!

04.01.2022 Wondering how it all works? How to get started at a bulk/refill/BYO container shop? I've redone the "How Does It Work?' page on our website (which has even more tips and tricks), and broken down the basics for you here. Loving getting your questions too, so if you have any, shoot them through! (Someone else is probably wondering the same thing too).

03.01.2022 My Miss 5 loves the idea of Shopkins... but so much plastic!!! So we made our own Shopkins from modelling clay. Was so much fun!
