25.01.2022 Last week we had our first snake bite of the season. This post is not too alarm but let you be aware that snakes are out and about and are at their most venomous. Although snakes bite can be 100% bad luck there are a few thing you can do to help minimise the risk - keep grass cut short - snakes will seek out places to hide so keep yard tidy as possible avoid sheetmetal, woodpiles, rocks, kids plastic play equipment from being on left on the ground - remove potential good so...urce like rats and mice (food scraps) - Don’t allow your dog to approach a dead snake (they are still venomous when deceased) - keep shoes inside - keep you dog on a lead when go for a walk - Don’t allow your dog to explore holes or rocks If you see your dog/cat with a snake ALWAYS assume they have been bitten. It is vital that we treat asap for the best chance of survival. Call your local Vet on the way to the clinic so you can make sure they have the life saving anti venom available and are able to rush to prepare medications and equipment for your arrival so treatment can start as soon as you arrive. Time is the key so its not recommend that you bother bandaging the area and head straight to your local vet. Do not let your dog/cat become over excited or run around this will only increase the spread of the venom. Its important to note that you should never attempt to kill a snake, snakes are protected by law and it is unlawful to intentionally harm or injury them. See more

Happy Vet Nurse Day you fabulous ladies. Its been a really tough year and we sure have experienced so much together but coming to work everyday with you lot is awesome.
